I have a portable CD player in my Frontier now. I can't stand the extra clutter in the cab.

Congrats on retirement! Nothing like it! (Other than watching the stock market too much!) I take long road trips with short sections of off roading interspersed so the Sport fits the bill. This does have a 2" lift on it so, where I go, I don't have to worry about ripping the undercarriage apart like I do on my stock Frontier.

Been using the InReach for years now for my mountain climbing, backpack and toad trips. Started with a SPOT but the In Reach is way better.

I take long road trips with occasional off roading so the sport fits the bill. Although I would be perfectly happy with an OR. When I got my Frontier the first thing I did was swap out the factory shocks for Rancho adjustables. Improved the on road handling immensely! When I test drove the Tacoma it was way better than the improved Nissan. No sway at all even when I took corners really fast.

I say go for it. I paid 20k (including CA. sales tax and DMV fees) for my '06 OR last year with 115,000 miles. I feel I paid too much at the time but I'm happy with it. Looking back I kinda wish I spent the extra 10k for the 2.5 gen because they are the best looking of all the Tacomas. Good luck.

    Eastern Sierras are great...

    edit:
I see now you say it has a rebuilt title. Unless it was a theft recovery and un-crashed I'd pass.
That price would be for a pristine, perfect in every way example.

Keep looking, I wouldn't be too concerned finding a real low mileage one. Got my 2015 double cab 4x4 SR5 V6 AT for $18,500 back in Feb.
Granted mine had 190k miles but it was (and still is) immaculate. I've had 5 Toyotas prior and all have gone over 300k (sold all of them to friends so I know the miles).
Maybe you can find something similar in the same price range w/ 100k miles. Here's mine, it's a Texas Edition and we love it!

So get an aftermarket stereo. Don't count on the factory head unit working in any 10+ year old used Tacoma.

Any aftermarket stereo would completely foul up the fickle electronics, back up camera etc. in my Frontier.

Is that is slo? Just a heads up from what ive seen all the trucks he sells are salvage title. Not saying some arent.
But what ive seen he gets them reasonably cheap with small “fender benders” and up charges quite a bit.
they are all extremely low mileage and clean looking though

Yeah this one is a rebuilt so thoroughly inspected by CA. Minor l/f grill repairThat is the other thing ...since i plan on keeping this truck forever, I don't mind the "rebuilt". It only hurts you if you sell. He has the best reviews on the 'net and only deals in Toyotas and Hondas. Right now, six Tacomas and I 4rnr. In talking to him he just seems like a Tacoma enthusiast who sells a few of them. Vehicles are warrantied.

It is exactly what I want with the miles very low and such. I am just hesitant on the price due to the "rebuilt" on the title.

    Oof

    $34k for a rebuilt title?

    Hard pass

"It only hurts if you sell"
It's not hurting him to sell it to you.. quite the opposite in fact. You're basically handing him free money. The value just isn't there for that price

You may end up selling it in the future, never say never..

Yeah, had a huge carfax with dealer service every 5k miles. Looks like a clean one there

Exactly what I have been thinking. But, I've seen clean title vehicles in worse condition... I am conflicted for sure.

probably 90% of his cars are 2.5 gen Tacomas. All super low mileage. They can sit for awhile but hes been running this type of operation for a long time so someone’s definitely buying them eventually

    Understandable

Depends on how you want to define the value of a vehicle. You could argue about the severity of the damage that resulted in the branded title.. but damn, thats a clean title price in my opinion

You might be planning to keep it forever but shit happens.

I bought an 06 last year , for my daughter, with a rebuilt title. It’s all about what YOU want. It’s your money.
