    Hi guys,
The family has gotten to big and I have to sell my '13 access cab tacoma, planning to post on craigslist this week. I've been researching used prices and can't believe how high dealerships are selling used tacomas (this is my first toyota so maybe the high prices are normal). I've never sold a truck privately before, so I'm curious to know if you guys think it's over or under priced at $23,500.

2013 Prerunner, 42k miles, v6, 2wd, fog lights, steel rims, cruise control, traction control, ABS, power windows and keyless door locks, backup camera, sliding rear window.
1 owner, no accidents and the only damage is a 3" scratch on a rear finder flare.

Nothing holds it's value like a Tacoma, but market value matters, too. I would check with KBB.com. It will include your zip code when pricing your truck for your market. On the surface, your price seems fair. Good luck with your sale!

Thanks! Wish I could keep it, too difficult to make long trips with a carseat and wife squeezed in :angrygirl:

Seems a little heavy to me. Probably more like 20-21K , but that is only based off a quick kbb check

Your truck looks great, price it at your price you can always go down in negotiating.
That is the nature of Craiglist.
Don't forget to post here in the classifieds.
    Good luck with your sale.

I would look at Kelly blue book for your area. When I was selling my 98 a few yrs ago some people even showed up with a print out of what kbb valued it at. Sure you can sell it for more than that, and I did also. It will take longer and you just need to stick to your guns.

he is omitting the tax on the sale so $23,500 gives him wiggle room on the price

Telling the op how much you paid for X taco does nothing unless you are in the same area as him. Prices fluctuate too much on different regions.

    CL selling caution.

Careful where you meet folks to look at the truck. For your safety, find a 'secure' place. Maybe your home is. Or isn't.

For the final transaction, meet the buyer at a bank you have an account at. Let the bank verify the funds paid to you (check, cash (counterfits) cashiers check, whatever) and place the funds directly in your account. Sign the title and receipt, give to the buyer.

The days of buying/selling $500-2.5k vehicles in cash out of your driveway are about done. 20k+ is too much to deal with at home, unless you are long term personal friends with the buyer. Too many risks, too many scammers.

Just by going off of KBB and putting in your stuff with a local zip, you look like about $1k high (valued at "excellent" condition that is), but realistically it still depends on what else is out there, possible less desirability of a basic SR5 2WD access cab, etc. I wouldn't base it totally off of what some of the 4x4 guys are saying. That in itself adds some $ to the price. But in the end, you'd be better overpricing a bit to provide margin to arrive at the number you'd still accept.

Nowadays you can go to a police station and do the sale their for security purposes. EDIT: now that I reread back over that, I suppose it works for small sales not necessarily a vehicle lol.

Yeah, I've already got a few pointers from my bank. They recommending going with the buyer to his bank and witnessing him request the cashier check. I'll probably have the buyer meet me at the local police station's parking lot.
