I agree if the sun is hitting directly at the back of the truck I don't think people will notice the brake lights. But then again it's not my truck so to each their own...

Looks like driving behind a car from the 70's who's light covers have turned opaque over the years. Seriously, not safe in daytime. You get rear-ended because someone can't tell you are stopping and they eat their dash or worse, that's on you.

Yes they are. You're looking at it through a camera. The plate lights are shining into each other at a white object. In person, in telling you, it's fine.

I've also done mine. Had a few cops follow me cause of the tint but once I press the brakes they leave me alone.

Just an update since this got bumped. Have been followed closely on sunny days. Hit the blinker and people change lanes immediately. Same with brakes.

Still looking for a brighter brake light for assurance if anyone had ideas. Led didn't do it. Maybe a red bulb?

I ran LED brake/tail/reverse lights on 2 previous modified vehicles and while they are "brighter," they also suck because unlike a halogen bulb that fills the entire housing with light, they're super focused and you only really illuminate where the LEDs actually are - like instead of a 4"x4" housing being bright red when brakes are applied, you have a 3/4" circle of LEDs that are bright red when brakes are applied.

Those lights really need to throw some light around to be healthy and functional. LEDs in my experience (couple vehicles, several years) don't get the job done and are not as "safe" as a halogen bulb.

So.. I might look into a brighter halogen alternative than go with LED. IMHO, YMMV, ILYBBY.

I've been behind these a few times in different states. At night they're pretty noticeable since it is dark outside. During the day it is harder to see them depending on how dark the tint is. One thing I have noticed as well is that it is hard to see the difference between them being actual brake lights or if someone just has their parking lights/headlights on and the rear lights are just dimly lit. Once you see the lights turn on and off a few times you realize it's the person hitting the brakes.
