The third gens do really well on non-ethanol gas.

Im not hating but why did you do it if you dont like or hate it? To protect the roof from getting baked by the sun?

Repurposed tyger auto step rail used for a back bumper:crapstorm::anonymous:Not pretty, but more functional than the plastic that's on the rear of these things!

How are you going to know if you like something until you try it?

    My main reasons were:

    1. Solar reflection in the Summer

    2. Protect the roof paint, since on my old truck, the roof paint was the most deteriorated surface.

    3. I always liked the looks of the FJ Cruiser, so why not try that on the Taco?

As far as not liking it disliking, that is just the way I feel about how it turned out.

I will say one thing, it is distinctive, and I have never seen another one in person or in photographs, which I personally happen to like.

Too much sameness in the world imo.

I am still undecided but leaning towards getting it re-done professionally.

Like I said before, and truly stand by, it's my truck, and who cares what anybody else thinks about it.

    Really.

Curious if you have any update on further results of this experiment in terms of MPG.

I have made 3 of the same trips since my last post and 2 of the 3 had similar results. On one of the trips there was a horrendous headwind which reduced the mileage to 23.5 mpg. It has definitely helped to reduce drag and improve the MPG.

Cool, I may be interested to do something similar. How did you account for the crossover pipe that extend way below everything else near the transfer case? Did you provide a cut-out for it to hang below, or did you drop the belly pan down to that level? I assume the forward end meets up with the trailing end of the factory sheet metal pan under the front of the engine?

Apologies if you have gone over this before. Do you have a post with any more info?

I don't do much off-road and I have a CJ2A Jeep for that stuff anyway. A belly pan, and some Michlin LTX LRR tires might get me in to the middle 20's I'm thinking.

I no longer have that crossover pipe since I replaced the stock y pipe with the URD y pipe. The URD y pipe removed the rear cats and rerouted the crossover pipe so that was not a problem . It also improved the MPG and power at the same time so it was a win win for me .
