I just bought a 2017 DCSB Sport M/T. I only have 1k miles on it, but I absolutely love it. No issues to speak of and it feels much more solidly built than my Ram 1500 did. I just took it on a 600 mile trip and it was fantastic. Great in the snow and very comfortable on the expressway. No complaints here!

I feel like the majority of people have not had any problems. It just seems like it here because a lot of people only want to complain and voice their opinions when something is wrong.

I picked my 2017 MT TRD Sport up in OR and drove it back to NM (1460 miles) last weekend. Like most tacoma owners I wish it got a little better gas mileage. I do noticed a drone noise from the exhaust (at least I think its the exhaust) but I will rig up some sound deadener/insulation.

I have the tech package and was the main reason I bought this one. I kept my 2013 TRD DC but the issues with that truck were things this one has so I am happy. 1500 miles inst enough for me to have something break but so far so good. 18.5 mpg average and she saw speeds of 65-90.

There was an update to the manual transmission as well. Take it to the dealer for the models affected. I haven't had any issues, but was at the dealer when they were doing the update on a 2016 - service manager said its a $15 part and .5 hour labor. No seals cracked, no fluids replaced, just a simple unbolt, replace, rebolt.

I have no issues with my 2017 DCSB OR 4x4 6MT.

It was in regards to 6th gear on specific models of manual transmissions built in 2016 that had difficulty with shifting out of 5th or 6th after having driven very long distances (without shifting). They swap out something that looks like a small spanner wrench and it completely fixes the problem.

Haven't heard of anyone with a 2017 having the issue, and I can see why. With the very limited number of manuals being ordered this would be an easy issue to correct.

*disclaimer: I don't remember the exact part they are swapping out, but apparently the replacement is very simple and quick.

ok, sounds good. I drove mine from OR to NM last weekend and never felt anything wacky except the jump from 5th to 6th seemed nil so I skip shifted unless I was going uphill. S/F

9000K miles. TRD Sport 4x4 Access Cab MT. No major issues. No regrets on getting a MT, smooth throws, good power delivery.

Those issues I did have were corrected by myself. They are:
Adding sound deadening on the cab floor and rear wall, and to the rear doors. Much better.
Shorten the air dam by about 5 inches vertically, looks much better.
Tie back the spare tire chain so it doesn't clank on the rim.
Added two power ports and two USB ports.
    Debadged

    Future plans:
Vinyl wrap the scoop to reduce reflection.
Mount a nice analog clock if I can find one. Everything I've seen is cheap and tacky.

Almost half third gen owners polled are reporting problems with their rear differential so yes you're lucky or your problems have just not materialized yet

You're most likely good to go. This seems isolated to a specific model of 2016's with MT, with only a few of them showing symptoms.

To duplicate it you need to leave it in 6th for about an hour. If you have issues getting it out of gear even with the clutch depressed, force it out. Then go straight to Toyota and tell them. One guy pushed it as a safety issue (which it could be for some who drive long distances in 6th all the time) and he got a rental until the part came in and was replaced.

Some people hate rentals and get upset, but I say make lemonade out of it. Once Toyota took a week to get parts in to fix my FJ Cruiser, so I took their rental on a road trip and heard nothing when I returned it to the dealer with an extra 2000 miles.

Total piece of crap. The mileage calculator is consistently .15 to .18 MPG off of actual. The paint job looks like dirt when there's dirt on it. It hasn't once given me a hot stone massage since I got it. I used voice control to tell it to polish my knob and it started playing Polish klezmer music or some such. I guess I needed the PRO or OR for that stuff.

Otherwise, I love my SR5. No problems at all.

I probably should have joined the forum before pulling the trigger on an SR5.
