I've been on this forum as a lurker and with an account for a total of about six months now and I have heard sooo much crap about 3rd gens. I bought a 16 TRD OR 3 months ago and have had absolutely no issues. Am I the only one?? What percentage of Tacoma owners are actually having these issues? Did I get lucky or are these being blown out of proportion?

No, you belong with the 98% of people who own this awesome truck and don't even bother to look into this site because they're out having too much fun driving it group.

The truck overall is great. It does have problems.
I love my truck but I can tell you the transmission shift points are horrible.

Others with the rear diff howl, vibrations, squeaky leaf springs etc. are not imagining their problems. Some are more sensitive or observant to the issues than others.

It's the best! Except that I hate how it shifting, but I guess it's asix speed transmission.
I know ford exploder is different but it has 3.5 with 6 speed and it shits normal. I had one recently as a rental.

Nope. I hit this forum hard when I bought my truck a month ago because I wanted to know what problems to watch out for. This is my 4th Toyota pick up, so I know the breed. I have been really watching and checking everything that could be a problem and so far...nothing. Everything on my truck is 100%. 1500+ miles and 1 month so far. 21+ MPG's. I am very impressed with this truck. It's the best Tacoma I've owned.

This forum got a lot better when I started using the ignore button. Separated a lot of more signal out of the constant repetitive endless droning noise...

No, this is true. Usually around here the same 10 people constantly rehash every problem they ever had over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and overover and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

It's why people are compelled to post threads like this.

I've had zero issues (no tranny, hood rattle, etc issues) until this week when I started hearing a clicking noise while I drive. And it only has 3k miles.

Honestly everything that could be an issue according to these guys I have had checked. Everyone here is just trying to help, but like someone said most don't come here to show off. They are looking for help with a problem. So 99% of what you see here are problems. Me? 6 months/ 9000km and I couldn't be happier

Only issue that was major for me was the shift points, but that was fixed in the TSB over a week ago. I rarely hit the ECT button anymore.

I have the LCA whine/ocarina music but it doesn't bother me.

have just over 10k miles on mine.

Then you have this guy that goes to every single thread and tags smitty. Idk what that's about. I guess it's because smitty has problems with his truck but yet he still drives it while constantly bitching on here about it.

I guess the 129 of us with a howling diff are such a small minority, maybe I should dig up the low fluid thread and see how many there reported low fluid, ya bunch of whiners and only here to complain. This is hilarious. I have been a member of this forum for 5+ years, owned 5 tacomas, this forum is usually guys talking about lifts, mods, how tos and addressing problems, it is not solely based on problem reporting so thats a very wrong statement whoever said that, its an enthusiast site not a whine site. Out of the time I spent in the 2nd gen forum, never have I seen so many guys with the same issues on new trucks. If any of you have taken statistics you would know that just based on the sample size of those reporting issues extrapolated to those not included in the sample (not on TW) there are a lot more than only 2% as some of you tot the 98% trouble free stupid comment. Yes there are a few here that bitch every day. I don't bitch, I love my 16, but its far from perfect but don't expect it to be either, so was my 15 and 11. When you make ignorant statements that there's only a select few that have issues it masks the issue and dosent help anybody besides your flawed logic. I bet a majority here don't even realize they have a diff howl its faint for most and half the guys that developed this didnt until 5k+ miles in (including myself) where so many here say "2k miles no problems" lol. Are a lot of the issues not big issues (i.e. low fluid, whistling lcas that can be plugged) of course, but some are not too. I'am glad there are a bunch of you that have trouble free new tacoma's but stop with the there's only a few that have issues and are the same people bullshit statement, that is far from true.
