I have a 1998 2.4 (no distributor) Tacoma that keeps blowing the AM2 fuse. Recently the truck had suddenly died and I traced it back to this fuse. I replaced it and everything seemed good after driving about 5 miles. I go take off again and got about a half-mile and the fuse blew again. Being that I'm slowly losing coolant I have been reading that may be the water pump seeping and that this coolant can actually run onto the crankshaft position sensor so I was suspecting it may be going bad. I unplugged it and the AM2 fuse still blows when the key is turned on. I disconnected both ignition coils, the cam and crank sensor and removed the EFI relay and it still instantly blows when ignition switch is turned on. I have been reading about a noise filter -condensers. Would a distributor-less motor have this and where would I find it on the truck? Any other ideals? One last thing, with the coolant loss there has been a couple instances where the truck is gotten rather hot (Just below the red) if that might give any clues. Thanks for any help here.

Actually, is that the noise filter taped to the mass airflow harness?

Try disconnecting the alternator plug and see if the AM2 fuse still blows. What I find odd is that I believe that the 7.5 IGN fuse is inline with the AM2 and the alternator so I would think that that fuse would go first. On the harness on the electrical portion of the ignition switch there is a black/Red wire, this is the wire that transfers power once the ignition switch is in the run position. The White/Red wire comes from the AM2 fuse on the electrical portion of the ignition switch.
