It's a standard 8-pin Mini Din connector on the radio. No USB.

I heard a second-hand report from @GHOST SHIP , that if it's unplugged the TPMS light goes out.

And if you leave a cable plugged in the radio won't work? The Yeasu are that way.

Programming manually from the face is a skill you need to know. However, doing the initial setup with 20+ channels (I think I have 53 in one side and 65 in the other) by hand is a PITA!!! Having the software and your setup saved on a computer makes changing it super easy. Going on a road trip, create a setup with repeaters along the roads you are taking. Get home and just reload your default setup.

I like chirps and kenwoods software, However I love RT Systems!

Good to hear that about the RT Systems software. :)

Can you bulk copy and paste with the RT Systems for Yaesu? Like copy from A side to B side?

I can't do that with the Yaesu supplied ADB software or whatever it's called.

The Kenwood doesn't care if you leave the cable in. Works fine.

Here be a pic of the cable for the kenwoods.

Currently selling for an amazing blow out price of $6.00

Cable is marketed as a control cable for a midi synthesizer, but works great for Kenwood radios. Cable is discontinued by manufacture, so once they're gone, they're gone!

RT Systems allows you to copy and paste from one side to the other and from one radio setup to another.

The downside is cost. You have to buy a version for each radio model you own. Plus they require you to use their cables. I think it averages to $45 a radio. If two radios use the same cable, than you can just buy the software and reuse the cable.

My Kenwood d72a uses a basic USB mini cable, so I didn't have to buy one from them for it.

    Yes.
I'll second @Chipskip on the RT Systems recommendation. Chirp "works", and is "free" but that's about all I'll say about it. RT Systems is actually pretty good software. The cables don't HAVE To be theirs, but they do have to be compatible with the radios.

Generally speaking, over the life of a radio, the investment in RT Systems is a pretty tiny drop in the bucket. (even if it is more expensive than any of the BaoFeng radios....)

    Yes.
@Crom @Chipskip are you guys both "General or Extra licensed?"
If so, you might check around 20m on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. I'm going to try to put Arches National Park, and then Canyonlands National park on the air for the NPOTA event. (W9ZEB)

I'm not reliable source for this, since I also got that info from another member. If I can find the thread, I'll post it here. IIRC, unplug it and no more TPMS and no other unwanted associated warning lights. I happen to like my TPMS, but to each his own.

I think @PeterVICEG should repost the unverified information somewhere else in the forum and we'll have 5th or 6th hand information going. One day it could become TW legend. lol

    Thanks @GHOST SHIP !!! ;)

With the inverter out I want to remove the fuse for the circuit. The big blue "fuse" in this pic marked 100 is the one far as I can tell.
How do these come out? I pulled fairly hard, but it feels locked in.image.jpg
