A kit haha damn, Arduino Nano and an HC-05? I went with the hc-06 for my 2nd module. Both should be good with Bluetooth SPP.

Meh, just drill it and be done. Not as bad as it seems. Wasn’t much to drill a 4” hole in the fender for the snorkel either. Lol

Nobody uses straight keys anymore. It's 2020. Straight keys are like QRP. Might be fun for you, but it sucks for the other guy. Get some paddles. And a big ass amp.

    PSA over.

Meh, I'll learn on a straight key. Just like I learned to drive in a manual, learned to ride a horse bareback, and learned to safety wire without pliers.

Copying CW is a skill, sending it isn't. A straight key teaches you absolutely nothing because as soon as you get good you'll ditch it for paddles. Straight keys will just cause bad habits.

That makes it sound like sending CW well on a straight key IS a skill. Maybe one that is hard to acquire, but does that make it something I shouldn't desire? We should not use RTTY then since PSK is around. I mean, it's 2020, man! Might as well trash your AM radios since we have SSB.

You sound like you have had traumatic experience with a straight key. Whatever your beef, there's no reason to dog someone for wanting to learn with one. If you hear me on the air, ignore me and scroll on past. Easy enough.

He's notoriously abrasive. Just scroll past, its easier that way.
