@BlackSportD I've got a piece of metal and a hammer... lots cheaper than $80. There isn't a center console area like that in the 1st gen, is there? I wonder where it would end up getting mounted.

Looks like it would mount to the passenger seat bolt, and rest tightly to the transmission tunnel. I have had a radio (face plate) mounted low like that and didn't like it, as it got constantly dirty presumably from small splashes from the cups in the cup holders in my 1st gen.

I have a mig but at my age, more and more I appreciates a turn key solution.

Im out of space under thr radio, only place i can see mounting a radio that doesn't have a remote mount face is that sideways way.

Yeah i want my ftm300 higher. Wish we had the gucci nice multible rino mount rails at the dash level. Sometimes i think of mounting above the windshield so it's easier to see the screen.

If you think the average consumer has it difficult adding minor equipment like switches and radios, you should see what police and fire departments have to do when they turn a Tacoma or other vehicle into a service vehicle. It's impressive and I'm shocked that manufacturers don't support it a little better. Toyota is probably the best I've seen but still not easy to add all the lights and sirens they use. It's a gut and surgery job.

They are, but at some kind of trickle and I'm wondering if mine is now just lost in the mix. I have my 'passing receipt' ARRL gives you so that you can test for the general while waiting for a callsign, I might go to test and also nudge them the technician still needs to get through.

Hot damn just got the FCC email to pay the $35 fee (thought that was what the ARRL fee was for but I guess not). Hopefully less than a week now to get a callsign.

The only fee allowed by a radio club is to cover necessary admin fees for administering a test. Examiners are volunteers (VEs). For example if the room rental rate is 500$, they can charge an incidental fee (no idea what the cap is, but I'd say 30 is a fair max) to test takers to cover that cost.

NOW there's also a 35$ gimme to the FCC as well.

    Nope...
    No you can't.

After all that, you gotta share your call sign here. What did you get?

I was KG7NDC and got the N5MKH vanity from a family member (SK).

Do you have a link to the proposal on the FCC website? ARRL is down.

    EDIT: Here's the proposal: https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/document/1042840187330/1
    Here's a short discussion on QRZ.com: https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?th...ower-allocation-on-shortwave-spectrum.872242/

and the ARRL page is back up.

Anytime anyone wants to encroach on our spectrum that is not good! Give any entity an inch they'll take a yard! Once the spectrum is gone we don't get it back!
