move motor direction up and down for max signal then TX for best SWR. No auto tuner needed

Finally got my HF vertical up again, wish my wire would cooperate. Same with my HF radios.

Today, from HRO on Peoria & 43rd Ave. The last one I got on Amazon (I was afraid if I bought it at HRO I would spend more money). PM in bound.

When I can, I haven't had much time to catch it recently. The 4x4ham.com net has moved to an IRLP/Echolink compatible repeater in the Phx area, so that others can start tuning in.

Picked up a shell for my truck today, so my light/antenna bar in the bed had to come out. Now, I am radio-less in my truck until I get the BAMF tailgate antenna mount and a longer cable.

Congrats on the shell. I love mine to no end, so useful! I'm going to try and get back to the OAUSA net, I've been out for almost a year...

I park in the garage. I put the mag-mount APRS antenna up there, removed the antenna (I only set it up when I am on a trip or wheelin).

I ordered BAMF's tailgate antenna mount, that should lower my main enough so I don't have have to lower it every time I drive into the garage. If that doesn't work like I want it to, then I will do front fender mount. Roof is the last option.

I like the oausa net but I'm more frequent during the winter.

Have you looked into a relentless hood hinge bracket for the antenna?

I don't think anyone makes a hood hinge backed for 1st Gens, we don't have any room between the body panels. If you know of one, I would love it if you post a link. (I have been wrong before, or so my wife tells me)

You know me, I am always down to fab something. This has been discussed in BAMF's and Relentless' threads before. When the 1st Gen hood is closed, the back of the hood almost makes contact with the plastic, leaving very little room. Also, on the driver's side, the wiper arm is right there. Which limits clearance of any bracket with the hood open. This is an issue for lights and things, but I don't think it would be for an antenna base. All that said, let me know what your school schedule looks like and we can get together as see what options there might be. If we figure this out, there is a lot of 1st gens that would want a piece of it.

If my BAMF tailgate antenna mounts doesn't get here by Thursday :fingerscrossed: I am going to go to HRO and pick up a lip mount for my antenna, I am working an event in Flagstaff this weekend. I also need a longer cable to run all the way back, my 12ft cable is 3 feet to short.

One that bolts to the hood mount arm and curls up over the hood, or something to that effect.

edit here is a pick of the 2nd gen version Relentless'.

    Yes.
I took apart a Comet Hatchback mount, and used it inside the bed at the tailgate. It's not quite as out of the way as the BAMF, but I made it with parts I already had.

That looks awesome. I had a light bar across the bed with my antennas mounted there, but I just picked up a shell, so no more antennas in the bed.

    Yes.
The mount started out as one of these: http://www.cometantenna.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/HD-5M.jpg

I took the screw that holds the top half to the bottom half out, fit a few washers, and used the 10mm bedside screw the BAMF mount (on a second gen) would use for mounting.

I'll eventually get the BAMF mount or bend something similar up myself. The rest of my antennas are on the truckbed toolbox.

I think we can fab something that doesn't necessarily needs to pivot. It simply needs to be clear of stuffs. We can look Friday morning when while its still cool.

Anyone ever considered the stock mounting bolts for the roof rack?
