    5100's all around. Front's set at 1.75" 265/75/16 Duratracs.

Ok that sounds good. The radio already has a fuse on the hot wire coming out of the back of it. The pos and neg wires from there run into a white connector and then they end an Anderson pole disconnects. I just figured that out on google before you posted but that you for that.

Where is a good place to run the wires through the firewall and what kind of terminal ends do you use at the battery?

You can poke through the rubber around the main bundle of wires going through the firewall on the left side of the drivers footwell. There is a fair amount of rubber around the bundle that you can poke a coat hanger through with the wire taped to it, that way you won't harm any wires in the bundle.

There are also several rubber grommets under the seats on the floor, front and back. You can see those easily from underneath the truck. Hope that make sense.

Which breaker are you using? I had one for about 2 years on my fuse block and it started intermittently failing, causing my headlights, radios, etc go lose power for .5 - 2s at a time.

I know this is HAM radio thread, but I noticed that someone's radio messed up while jumping the truck's battery because the radio was wired directly to the battery..I am pretty sure the same thing can happen to a CB radio..

Could this avoided if an inline fuse is used?

You are right, this could happen to CB too. Really anything that is electrically sensitive.

In line fuses are designed to protect, but sometimes they fail. Using a breaker provides additional protection while also saving you money on fuses.

There is nothing wrong with running accessories to the battery, but if you plan to add more than one or two, you will want to add a fuse block, otherwise the wiring gets really messy and hard to keep straight.

    Yes.
I don't currently have the Blue Sea Fuse Block, or Breaker. However I am running a 4awg power and ground to a pair of larger copper Distribution blocks inside the cab. I fused both the power and ground under the hood with 100A fuses. My poor man's breaker is to pull the fuses under the hood before jump starting anything. I see one of those 100a Circuit breakers in my future.

Anyone have any personal experience with the Yeasu FTM-100DR? Thinking it might be a good radio for my bike. Only complaint I can really find is that it doesn't have dual Rx, which I don't need on the bike. It has APRS built in which is something I am looking for.

Not a bad deal if someone is looking for a rock solid HT. Get 10 hams together and you usually will find 8 of these among them. Great for getting help with operating/programing if your a new ham.

I owen one, its currently loaned out until that ham gets his own... hint hint @llibrm (aka N7TRD).

I had one and it was great, everything about it was awesome. Until it disappeared while at KOH a few years ago. I don't know if I lost it or if someone took it.
