^ guy knows wsup and name checks out.

Memphis is fantastic shit and the ease of installing OEM Plus gear is ridiculous.

I had to highly talk down another buddy whom wanted the JBL system. It's literally not worth it and he could repurpose the coin easily on an OEM plus system and elbow grease an afternoon to replace the speakers.

Use to be $468 and currently, $388.

Not sure about shipping cost...prolly put it over $400...which is what you're hinting at.

While I can't speak to current OEM speakers. I worked in the install bay at Best Buy (over 20 years ago) and even in the early 2000s manufactures where switching to speakers like this. It is a different type of magnet in the OEM vs the aftermarket, which accounts for the smaller size.

Smaller and more efficient is one thing if that can be done. The ones in my 2010 though..yikes. Every other vehicle I've had the OEMs at least had some weight to them, these felt like a Frisbee.

I just replaced the tweeters, not the front door speakers, and added an 8" underseat Sub.. Sounds great! Wired the Sub from the rear speaker outputs.

I wouldn't waste my money on rear speakers

I'm seriously considering the Kicker 6 upgrade without the amp upgrade.

Right now, I'm saving for the Diamondback Switchback Tonneau Cover...which is currently going for $1899.

On long solo road trips for work, I always end up wearing my Bose earbuds. Some of the podcast I listen to the volume has to be at max to hear them. Plus taking phone calls seems like most people complain about road noise when I’m using the factory setup.

This is the adapter I bought for the speakers. For a 2017 Tacoma, it plugs right into the factory speaker plug.

Ok I'm going to try this, how hard is it to remove the door panels to get to the speakers? Any special tools required?

Screwdrivers of both kinds and a door pry tool to pry the plastic rivets..and release the clip if you have crank windows. I can have my panel off in under 5 minutes.

imma argue with the rear speaker statement as it was a massive difference with them versus no rears. BUT. im an access cab with different placement. also full eq adjustability and 100+rms per channel amp power.

access cab could very well make a difference. i'm not aware of how those are built. i spent some time on my 4dr, and am using some peerless 6.5" hdx woofers that are extremely forgiving, but also respond really well to semi-open baffle arrangements, and there's just simply not a great amount of airspace within the rear doors to make them work the way they need to.

that said, i also don't like how the rear speakers are so far down and directly behind the front seats-- they tend to pull the sonic image backwards and down low too dramatically for my taste. but if they had decent bass reinforcement, i would've ran them as subwoofers..

Some very useful info here but it seems that the USB Audio Pro App only works on the Android platform. Is there a similar App for iOS?

You can get a high end/quality adapter for your iPhone to plug into you. You could get away without using an app potentially. Not a true audiophile here, I just like my tunes.

im just gonna say, if you really want your speakers to sound good in your vehicle, you better get to adding some sound deadening. all that road noise just muddles everything. probably ought to get rid of bluetooth as well.
