No major difference in drive or feel. LCAs holes are not plugged. Didn't notice howling in rear end but it only had 16 miles on it. I almost felt like shifting and power band was slightly smoother?? Possibly 4.30 gears but could not confirm they made that change. Will try to get build/spec sheet later today. The sales person could not provide. Truck so new they didn't even have a window sticker in it yet. They let me test drive to compare to my 2016 because I'm having so many issues with it. Honestly like I said I couldn't tell much if any difference between my truck and the 2017.

(UPDATE 8/10/16: Frequently asked questions -- Jeff Lange has confirmed that the Gear Ratios will not change for any of the Tacoma trims in 2017. Nothing appears to have changed from the 2016 to the 2017 except for the Power sliding rear window. I went back to the dealership and did look at the hood. The adhesive appears to be the same as the ones on the 2016 models that we've had issues with. I did not notice any of the bonds separating just yet. Also I drove the truck again and it is vibrating between 1800 to 2200 RPMs the same as my 2016.)

*GM may or may not be paying for a gear swap if you request to get your wussy 3.9's taken out and replaced for 4.31

I hope the LCA holes are reshaped/resized or something. If not, letting that feature carry-over is pretty damning. That's an easy fix.

I don't see anything regarding the gearing in either of those pics. See if you can get a close up...hopefully it is somewhere on there.

Yes described in original post--like I said too early to tell 16 miles on truck. Didn't hear howling really.

I think the gearing is the A/TM code, specifically A. I don't have anything to decipher it though.

I guess as a blind taste test (since I was unsure of gearing) I couldn't tell a night/day difference based on a 5 mile test drive. I did enter and exit the freeway twice too. Did appear to be a little smoother through the power band maybe slightly more pep on low end but barely discernable on the button dyno. Just one man's opinon.
