Im going to go out on a limb and say the connector isn't supposed to fit through the lower bracket is it? I can fit it back and forth through the hole. As in the brake line connector is to small. With just a little bit of force I can push the top one through its bracket as well. I haven't even tried the rear ones yet.

Had the same issue, with these lines, on my car and 2nd Gen Tacoma, as have others.
My 2nd Gen's OEM fittings were the same as yours, pictured above.
I used some heavy stainless fender washers.
I drilled them out enough to slide over the fitting, down to the "Hex" portion.
To thick, you won't get the spring clip on.
To thin, the clip will be loose.
Pictured below are the rear fittings on my 2nd Gen, with the washer.
Only solution I have, hope it helps ya

I am thinking about picking up a set of these however I'm a bit concerned with all of the lines being sent out with the wrong ends on them. Any word on what's up with this and when it will be fixed? As silly as it is, I don't want to have to mod something I just spent money on...

 

Thanks for that tip. I don't think that it would work for me. The round end is the same diameter as the hex end, there wouldn't be anywhere for the washer to grab Im going to see what OCTaco says. I waited way to long for these and spent quite a bit of money on them to have to modify anything to get them to work.

FWIW: I believe we're dealing with the same fittings.

I just wanted to get it done and didn't want to wait.
Had to do a complete brake job on the car,
so I could lay up the Tacoma for Ext Brake Lines and replace the Suspension/UCA's.
That led to new LCA Bushings, before it could be aligned.
Oh, and some Rust Abatement

The round at the thread end of the fitting is the same diameter as the round at the hex end
The washer hole has to be close to the round portion of the fitting, then the hex will stop it.
Did 12 fittings this way and they were solid as stock when installed (Pic in prev post).
Four were Banjo Fitting and didn't require alterations
Hope you get it straightened out.
This is a pretty quick fix, if ya don't

I might have to take a look again tomorrow. Looks like we have the same issue. By the looks of it the lines with the Banjo fitting are going to work.

I think there's a bit of "Communication Breakdown" here.
The silver lines with the "Banjo" (loop) fitting were made for my Toyota Solara,
and would not fit my 2nd Gen Tacoma.
The Banjo end attaches to the Solara Wheel with a drilled bolt that the fluid travels thru.
The Black lines are for my 2nd Gen.
The fittings toward the Master Cylinder are the same on both sets of lines for both vehicles,
and are the same as pictured in your post.
The banjo fitting is not an alternative to the fitting problem you have.
I have no idea if your 1st Gen uses the banjo fitting, but I'd guess not.
To elaborate on my referrence to the 12 fittings and the 4 Banjo's,
The 4 Black lines required washers on both ends for the Tacoma - Total 8 fitting on Tacoma.
The 4 Silver lines, FOR MY SOLARA, required washers on one end each (end towards master cylinder) Total 4 fittings on Solara.
Totaling 12 Fittings requiring alteration (Washer), between two vehicles
The 4 Banjo's on the Solara lines are held to the wheel with a bolt thru the center, requiring no alterations.
Hope that clears up any confusion in my 1st explanation

Thanks for posting your feedback. I'm sorry you're having issues with your lines. This issue is new to me. Typically the issue is that the retaining clip wont hold the lines in place because the slot isn't large enough. In your case the issue is that the hole on the bracket is excessively large and allowing the fitting to slide through.

I would suggest you follow the example provided by CapeCod as his mod appears to be working for him. One other option would be to send the lines back and I will have my buddy re-build them for you with different ends.

Please shoot me a PM letting me know how you would like to proceed.

There is no ongoing issue with the fitting in regards to the 2nd gen taco's. The issue presented above was with lines for a 4runner. Please let me know if you have additional questions regarding the lines or their application.

Was gonna disagree with you about the problem, but thinking back I'm probably wrong.
When I did the Solara Lines, the hole it the bracket to hold the fitting,
was considerably larger than the cylindrical portion of the brake line fitting.
The hole just caught the tips of the Hex portion of the fitting.
But yes, the issue was more the notch in the cylindrical portion to hold the clip.
It was an 1/8" +/- thru the bracket hole, not allowing the clip to hold the hex tight to the bracket.
The washer install solved both issues, by creating a wider plate against the bracket hole,
while being tight to the cylindrical portion of the fitting,
and spacing the fitting backward (towards the brake line),
bringing the notch flush with the bracket (see my last pic in my previous post).
I think the washers are 3/32" thick, but I'd have to verify. BTW, they're stainless.
So all was good. And after all four new pads, calipers and rotors the Solara was ready to drive.
Now on to the Tacoma for extended brake lines in prep for a new suspension
1st thing I did was kick myself in the ass for not anticipating the same problem.
So after drilling out 8 more SS washers, all was good with the Tacoma.
The fitting's "Hex" could be bigger, but it IS nice for tightening.
The clip notch could also be closer to the "Hex".
FWIW: The washer alteration was a bit of a PITA, but all in all, an easy fix.
The fittings are now rock solid in the brackets.
The lines and fittings are top quality.
OCTaco may not remember, but he went out of his way to resolve another issue for me and he is great to work with.
Moderate to high speed hard braking is much improve, not really noticeable during light braking.
So anyone on the fence, listen up:
These are after all, an after market product, custom made and high quality.
The possible fitment issues are minor and any fourteen year old should be able to solve 'em.
Nevermind, I already solved 'em for ya. Get ur wallets out.
Sorry for carrying on, hope I didn't step on any toes.

BTW: Improved braking was more noticeable on my notoriously soft braked Solara.

The thing is, its not excessively large. The stock line fits in there perfectly. If you look at the picture I posted the stock lines have little tabs that stick out. Those are what actually catch on the bracket. I dont know how the lines on the Taco are but thats how all of them are on my 4th gen 4Runner. Ill try what Cape said to try this weekend and let you know how it works out. While Im at it I will take measurements to maybe clarify the issue Im having.

 

I guess that is one difference in the 2 trucks. The 4Runner has banjo bolts on the rear caliber and that leads to the other round connector that looks like what we both posted. Maybe this will clear it up a bit. The connectors Im having problems with are on the shorter line. I have a feeling that Im going to have the same issue with the longer line and the line with the Banjo bolt might be OK. I wont know until this weekend.
