    Bad news for me.

Of the two hard-line nuts on the rear axle. I broke one lose. The other was nearly destroyed. In the end I went with channel lock pliers, so much force that the nut and brake line both rotate together right out of the bracket seat.

The top two hard-line nuts on the frame both rotate with brake line. Will not budge.

The nuts, I feel like they are chromed or something. They are so soft that damage is almost unavoidable.

damn that happened to a buddy and he had to go to a shop to have it finished. YA they are the WEAKEST nut on the truck. Toyota is dumb for putting that small of ones on there imo. Replaces the one u got off at least.

Yeup. Very common problem from all the research I've done this weekend.

For anybody with good advice for me, I've created a thread for stuck brake line flare nuts here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/brake-line-flare-nuts-stuck-need-advice-help.404656/

Comments from others who have successfully won the battle are appreciated. I think the next step is to use a torch on the nut..

Hey guys, I think I have a problem and I don't know if it has happened to anyone else...

Yesterday I took the truck to the shop so I could get the lines installed (and brake rotors, pads, etc...) but they found a problem...

They tried to install the rear lines but they told me that with the normal force the lines were leaking... they told me to not overtight the nuts because there can be a mayor issue with that...

As they couldn't install the rear, they didn't try with the front lines...

Anyone else with this problem, or should I overtight the lines?

If I understand correctly, it sounds like they were successful in freeing up the flare nuts, decided to not replace the lines and when retorqued to spec they are leaking?

If that's the case, the joint should be separated and fittings thoroughly cleaned and inspected to find out what's wrong. Probably some debris is in there preventing the flare from sealing correctly.

    I believe I didn't explain myself correctly...

They tried to change one rear brake line... disconnected the OEM, connected the Steel Braded and they said it was leaking... that they were not meant to be for the truck... I did more inspection and noticed that the top nut of the OEM line was all dirty (sign that they didn't disconnect it)...

So I assume they didn't want to do the job, right now there is no leaking with the OEM brake lines...

I'll try to install them before Xmas!

I've been having a hell of a time with mine. I took one flare nut all the way out and I could not separate the hardline from the soft brake line. I think the flared end was somehow damaged during install. I'm replacing that hardline with a new one from Toyota. PITA. I'm so jealous of everybody that gets them done in an hour with no problems.

Damn, that's a big problem... No, here we didn't have the problem separating both lines, hope you can solve it soon!

When I get the time I'll try to install them!!!

Would like to get a set of these if possible. Anyone know if OCTaco is still getting these? He hasn't been on in a couple weeks.

Had the same issue while doing mine = oh heck of a bunch anger directed to the lucky crowd that did in one hour what ended up taking me 3+. The fix for me was removing the hard line from the caliper so the whole assembly (soft and hard line) were free from the truck and put it in he bench vise for some encouragement from a screwdriver they popped apart easily. Once I started test fitting on the new lines it just took a few passes with a fine diamond file and it all went together smoothly. Each day I look underneath to check for leaking and all is holding fine. Best of luck with your project

Thanks. So your tough one was in the front? Mine was the rear. I ended cutting out the hard line with bolt cutters, removed it, then installed new hard line from Toyota for about $15. Super big PITA, but got it done!
