Here's another home built camper on a Toyota that I thought was cool (not my picture, just one I found and happened to save). Supposedly this guy was a boat builder too.

I'm 190lbs. and stand/crawl/sit on my tailgate all the time. I got the DeeZee tailgate mat because those ribs are killer on the old knees.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
    That is beautiful wood work.

For 3 years now, I help transport 2-3 kegs for an annual party out of town. I've never had an issue with both a full keg 160# and my weight 200# on the tailgate at the same time. Sometimes even two of us and the keg on the tailgate at once. I use my truck regularly for heavy stuff. Not a single concern on bending the tailgate.
