Man...why no side latches?! No way that'll keep water out. I have the older 36 inch and have had zero issues.

I bought mine for $10 more 2 months ago. Not mad about it. But I thought I had got the best deal. I stand corrected!

I haven’t put mine in yet. Heard lots of issues with not being water proof and getting a musty smell under it of not cleaned out often. So I’m waiting to get a cover and then I’ll throw this in there.

OK so, I have two older ones installed on my truck for maybe year and a half, and they are NOT water proof by any means.
All four corners on the lids are flexed/lifted up, because of that the gasket installed in the fid is not making contact with the bottom part of the case, and unfortunately they leak. Especially while driving in the rain (and sometimes during car wash).
Those things were not designed for what we want them to do /endure.
Anyways, I still have mine, since I'm not planning on spending $300+ for Pelican cases.

I've always wondered, is there anything these can do that a simple OBD BT plug and a phone cannot? I thought apps like OBD Fusion could read as well as write (select flags/data).

different models have different capabilities, as I’m sure the BT plug ones do as well. The 6100 series and 7100 can read and clear air bag codes, ABS codes, and a multitude of other features. You’ll just have to do some research to see what capabilities they have and if you need those features.
