just bought eBay raptor grill lights. The kit didn’t come with the add a fuse. I was wondering if I could splice directly into the headlight wires instead, or if I should just buy an add a fuse.

The best way would be add a fuse on a separate switch. I say this because the electrical system can be sensitive and could cause other issues. Put these lights on a separate circuit to make your life easier later on.

LEDs like those, I’d use a fuse just for them, but probably tap into any positively switch circuit that came on when I wanted them to. Just make sure to use a positive switched circuit, the headlights may be negative switched, you’d need to check.
The reason I stay a fuse just for the LEDs is many are crap quality and can let in water and short, so if they are on their own fuse (even it you tap into another circuit) the chances are they won’t blow the rest of the circuit.

But for the absolute preferred install of Raptor lights I’d use a different vehicle to the one I actually own .:boink:

I spliced it into the DRL’s, but the amber lights aren’t on. I probably did something wrong.

I tapped them into the DRL’s, but they only turn on when my fog lights are on.

I ended up just going with an add a fuse. Definitely the best route.

    Hello guys,

I want to place mine but I would like them to be on when I turn on the DRL’s and also the low beams, I heard you can install them inside the cab box with the DRL fuse but not sure.. does anyone know how I can do this with the add a fuse? Or any other fuse that can work while having the running lights and not turning off when I turn on the low beams? I don’t feel comfortable stripping the cables. Let me know please!

There’s a YouTube video out there that has a really good tutorial which is what I ended up using.

I used an add-a-fuse in the under hood fuse panel. I do NOT recommend splicing into the factory wiring harness.

Originality, it was on the EFI 3 fuse, but the lights would come on for a few minutes about 4 - 5 hours after shutting down. I didn't particularly like that. I moved the add-a-fuse to the INJ fuse, and it works like I want. Lights on whenever ignition switch is on, and only then. There's a YouTube video showing the neat way to route the wire out of the fuse panel.

Edit: Here's a link to the YouTube video I mentioned.

LEDs don't draw much juice. Tapping into the parking lamp circuit is fine.
