Super excited for your review, super valuable! Which light pattern, color and power level did you get for the SS3s?

I just got off the phone with Diode Dynamics, I guess they use Copper PCBs and have an SMT line in the USA where the boards are made. I work for a company that makes PCBs with an SMT line and I know how exceptional of quality can be achieved.

    the SS3s are looking promising!

Another vote here for the KC Gravity G4 fogs in amber - I've had them on for about six months without issue. About as simple as it gets for a plug and play install with a beautiful color, wide throw, and great output.

Here is a post below on why you should use an actual SAE LED fog assembly and not a replacement LED bulb in the OEM foglight. I would not recommend the Baja kit for fog use, it is designed to have maximum uplight, which is not something that you want in a true fog light and also reduces the intensity in the region where you want the fogs to illuminate. KC and Morimoto offer amber options, selective yellow (which people sometimes mistakenly refer to as amber) will offer higher intensity output with better contrast for improved visibility over amber while still providing the same/similar poor weather performance traits as amber. Rigid, Diode Dynamics, Baja all offer selective yellow.

Are you getting a set before most of us who ordered on BF? My pros are ETA to ship Jan10, but I would love to see a review before I get to install them.

We will be shipping all orders prior to additional sample sets. We really got cleared out way faster than anticipated. I know we're all anxious to see crash's review though so we're doing everything we can to push more out the door. Thanks!

My order is on the way and will arrive to me by Tuesday the 17th! I'll post some pictures and thoughts once arrived if nobody else has! @Diode Dynamics makes insanely good quality stuff so I'm sure these will surpass expectations!

The Philips LED fog bulbs are awesome. Very bright but they do have some glare.

Yellow xenons? Which bulbs are you referring to? The Sylvania stripe isn't going to give great color, you might instead look at Hella Xtreme Yellows 2900k (not Optilux by Hella) or Nokya Hyper Yellow 2500k. They Noykas will be more yellow, but the Hellas should be brighter with lower losses from a lighter coating. Alternatively you could look at Hellas yellow lens film or laminex lens film and tint the fog lens, which will allow you to use a higher output bulb rather than being limited to those that come with yellow tint.

These are terrific bulbs you can get for ~$20 off Amazon and they work super well in inclement weather in the stock fog housing. If you're price conscious as it seems, these are worth a try. If you don't like them, easy returns on Amazon.

I might just get these too and run them side by side with the DD kit when it comes

To compare? Or to run 2 sets of fogs? The Diode Dynamic LED fogs are going to have much higher intensity output than the Nokya bulbs.

    Just to compare for fun.

Also I have high expectations for the SS3, they've got some strong marketing. A $20 bulb would be a good solution if the $200 LEDs don't work out

Experimenting is always fun. I'd say go for it!

I like data rather than marketing. Based on the specs and my data:
The SS3 Sport and Rigid SAE have the same lux rating at 10m for white. The Rigids come in at nearly 2x the lux of stock fogs measured at 18' run at 13.8v according to my measurements, meaning the Diode Dynamics Sports in white should have a very similar value, aka approx 2x that of the stock TRD fog at 18'. The yellow Diode Dynamics fogs suffer about a 10% loss due to filtration, so you are still at 1.8x peak intensity compared to a stock fog, but the yellow coating on the Nokya halogen will also incur intensity loss though not quiet as bad as an LED, since the LED is going from a 4000k light source to a 3000k output filter (1000k change) vs a 3100k light source to a 2500k filter (600k change), therefor the losses should be about half of what the LED incurs. So your probably somewhere around 1.9x greater peak intensity at 18' with the yellow Sport fog LED vs the TRD H11 halogen with Nokya 2500k bulbs. However the LEDs will have a more consistently uniform beam pattern, so that higher value will be more consistent throughout the beam vs the halogen that will vary more, and the LEDs will have better cut offs for less glare. And if you compare to the Pro version the delta will be even greater, so the LED is definitely going to perform far better. The area you are going to see the greatest difference, is that the halogen will illuminate further to the sides of the truck with the TRD wide-angle fogs than you are going to see with a forward facing LED.

Agreed, lighting is super fascinating! can't wait to see your analysis of the SS3. Also very excited to get mine.

I'll let you know if I end up doing any kind of (basic visual) comparison with the fogs
