I wouldn't say that's "messing something up" but that depends on what you consider messed up.

OK, fair. I guess I'm trying to understand what other side effects I should expect.

    Thanks!

Interesting - the parts store reader could detect my VIN and 2017 model year, but not the vehicle make/model. It also couldn't find any codes other than system voltage low.

I tried pulling the negative terminal for about 30 seconds - maybe not long enough? It reset the trip odometer and tank average, but not the audio system, and I still have TRAC OFF and the check light...

Well, interesting. Today the temp indicator has stabilized (60, but there's snow on the ground), and TRAC OFF light switched off (above 31 mph - 50 kph? - but comes back when I slow down). Still have CEL and no cruise.

Finally got home and could read the codes. The only thing recorded is P0562 System Voltage Low. I can clear it with my dongle, the TRAC OFF and CEL go out and the green cruise light comes on - but that only lasts for a couple of seconds, then I get TRAC OFF and CEL again.

I still don't trust the sensor, but I'm wondering if maybe it's not the sensor but something upstream? Any ideas before I head to the dealer?

    Thanks.

Dont have the repair manuals in front of me, but the P0562 sounds like a significant charging system error. I bet your noted issues are a result of whatever is causing the P0562, not an issue with the temp.

Thanks. I'm now wondering if there's a ground/connection problem that's exacerbated by moisture. Truck is otherwise running great, good gas mileage on the week-long road trip...

So ... it's been a few months, and I finally have a resolution to this.

First, things got worse: I came out one evening towards the end of January planning to drive to dinner and found the battery dead. I used my little Weego box (boy was that a good purchase) to start the truck and noticed that the high beams were on. Just the high beams - no other lights. OK, that's weird. I turned off the truck, and the high beams were still on!

I pulled the connectors from the bulbs, started the truck again, went to dinner. After dinner, the truck started fine, but the next morning it needed a jump again. This continued, and got worse - it got to the point where every start needed a jump (see above comment about awesome Weego box). So I went to the dealer.

Told the dealer the whole story, authorized a fee for investigation. They tried replacing the battery, they replaced a blown fuse, the fuse blew right away. I authorized more investigation.

    Several days went by.

I got a call, eventually, "Say, we notice that the windshield was replaced. Did we do that? Because it looks like there might be some water damage... we found a burned connector. You might want to contact your insurance company to see if they will cover it."

OK, so now the finger pointing began. Indeed, the windshield had been replaced, and indeed, it had been replaced a few months before I first noticed problems with the ambient temp. I called insurance, who pointed me at Safelite, who had done the work. Good news: there's a lifetime warranty. Bad news ... well, the manager of the shop was away from a week and the person who was standing in wouldn't authorize anyone to go over and look at the truck. Gee, could I get a rental car? Hmm, no, not really.

A few hours later, I got a call from a regional Safelite person who said that yes, he'd be happy to authorize a rental, and he's going to raise the level of awareness about this problem to some sort of regional quality person. It took a few days, but someone went to inspect the truck, found the water damage, found the point of intrusion, replaced the windshield, and (eventually) authorized the repair work.

That took ... about two more weeks, because parts were backordered. I just picked up the truck this morning, five weeks after I dropped it off.

The damage is listed as being at the IA5 connector - the connector was burned and pin 4 completely missing. It appears that 28 contacts in total were replaced by cutting the wires and soldering on a replacement, as well as new housings. Safelite covered all of the cost.

No, the dealer didn't wash the truck.

It hasn't rained since I took the truck to the dealership - but it's supposed to rain this weekend ...

" No, the dealer didn't wash the truck. ................ " LOL

Good that it is found and fixed ...... I hate intermittent problems ...
