I got my Taco 4X4 four banger because I already own a Tahoe Z71 which is my dedicated tow vehicle. It used to be my daily driver but the 4.10 gears are pretty hard on gas. Tows like a dream though and is paid off. I will not be buying anything else to tow with, ever. When the motor goes in the Tahoe I'll put a new one in it.

Sticker on the 02' Tahoe was $42,200. I bought it with 30K miles on it for $25K. Now with 85K miles on it, impeccably taken care of, the book is now $10K.

I looked at the resale value of the Toyota trucks and it was a no-brainer. I can put 100K miles on it and only lose half the value on my investment. I wanted a pick-up also. Every American family should have a pick-up of some kind. Should be a law.

The Big 3 do make some nice stuff but I'm not going to take the hit on depreciation like that ever again. I did look for a 4X4 four cyl pickup and there really isn't anything worth a crap coming from American makers. No contest.

Don't worry, Congress will finish off the Big 3 soon enough. All that bailout money so now the politicians won't let them make the kind of cars we would buy.

Has been said before, but the Yota you're driving helped create and continue American jobs. If the mo-rons around you don't get that, that's their problem.

DON'T go into debt to buy an American car. Your purchase isn't going to save Ford, GM or Chrystler, so don't put your finances and family at risk to make yourself feel like you've helped the country. You've done plenty of that already. (Thanks for your service, btw.)

If you need to upgrade in the future to pull a camper, make the decision based on what you need to tow and what truck (regardless of make) is best for your situation.

I'm big-time anti-debt... so I say DO NOT go into more debt trading a perfectly good truck in to buy 'Merican.

Buy the best product you feel fits your wants and needs in your price class and don't worry about "where it's made". Buying American, while I agree in principle with the practice, is fraught with misconceptions and erronious thinking. If you think an American worker is "better" than a well managed Japanese or Chineses worker, you are just letting your emotions blind you. Americans are not God's only children on this planet. America is productive for many reasons: Agricultural, Industrial, Creative and Human Capital combined in a Capitalistic System which rewards the best of anything by giving it access to the cheapest capital in which to grow.

I will not however buy any tools from China. No way. American steel or nothing for me. Even that is getting harder to do.

Try buying trailer tires that are American made. I have 4 Goodyear Marathons on my boat trailer that are Chinese. I told those F-er's no China stuff but still ended up with them. Long story. Goodyear!
