Ideally I'm looking at 2 amps, one for the fronts, one for the subs, 2 subs, capacitor, and some accessories. Possibly a crossover in the future.

 

I have that same setup except only 1 sub and no capacitor.

From my understanding, Capacitors really aren't needed anymore, especially if you have the towing package with the 135A alternator. Also, most new amps have a crossover builtin. I know my JL amp did.

 

I can understand the capacitor not needed in a truck with a larger alternator, I had one in my old car (Grand Prix). It was quite loud and clean with very little light dimming.

 

Caps can be helpful if your power wire is a little undersized as well.

 

Yeah, same here. I had a Honda CRX and definitely needed the 1F capacitor to help out. The truck has no issues.

 

I prefer to go overboard on the power wires.

 

You and that CRX.... I think you two need a room... I'm still trying to figure out how you got in and out of the thing.

 

It had no back seat so there was LOTS of room for me. That car was Fucking awesome. I want it back. If I had the option now, i would have never sold it for $1300.

 

Well if this install does happen, I'll leave space for cap. It's nice to have from experience. Then again I was running 2 12's in the grand prix lol with a Clarion head unit 6v pre amp out....it was so clear.
