    The whole vapour barrier / air barrier conversation is constantly evolving and codes here and in the US are different , but the 6mil plastic vapour barrier we see commonly , is a system that is actually falling out of favour .

    The plastic vapour barrier in our code is actually acting as both the required vapour barrier and air barrier , but these 2 seperate requirements can be acheived with different products , the vapour barrier wrapping studs and headers in our case is doing so more to fufill the air barrier requirement than vapour barrier

    In Merde's case , the air barrier is complete on the exterior with the Envirodri spray on emulsion
