Why do you need new lungs? Sorry to hear man

I've always been on the donor list since I was young. I never figured I was gonna live this long

I have Cystic Fibrosis. Over the last year or so I've developed diabetes and actually had a couple seizures as well as my lungs have taken a turn for the worst and am now on Oxygen and IV antibiotics 24/7 so a lung transplant is pretty much my only option for a new life, So im pretty stoked on it! scared to death about the whole procedure but im ready! Im told that a lung transplant could literally give my life a 180!

Thanks Kona! Its crazy because i used to hear Transplant and think Damn thats horrible to be on that list, But not its like FUCK YAH lol get me on and lets do it! lol Never knew how much a transplant can change a life.

 

Sweet jebus. Thats insane man. Knock on wood I've been lucky not to have any serious health issues..

So do you already have a lung? or how does that work?

 

Right now i have my original two lungs which are technically Diseased and pretty much fried lungs, My doctor actually told me that im running on not even a full lung right now.

Im on the list started may 10th, Once the doctor finds lungs that will work for me he will put then in a glass case and he will actually keep them alive with machines and oxygenate them and see if he can make them the healthist they can be before putting them in me, And if they work out he cuts me open and removes my lungs one and time and replaces them and seals me up, Im on a respirator for a day or so and from them i stay in the hospital for up to three weeks and i slowly get better and relearn to breath and i go home and just keep exercising and eventually living a normal life... The disease is no longer in my lungs but it will still be in my sinuses and digestive system.

 

Best of luck to ya man. The complexity of that sounds amazing technologically but scary at the same time.

 

The coolest thing ive heard so far about the procedure is that he actually cuts the Cough reflex so i have to learn to manually cough on my own. Also that he goes up to 1500 miles to get lungs, and he actually can incubate lungs for up to four hours to see if he can make they health-er to better suite the patient... Im surprised we dont have cyborg organs yet
