    I'd rather do an arm bar. My arms are not thin and whispy and it would not be fair. 98 percent of fights end up on the ground and an armbar is a good submission hold. Or break. Depending upon how much he is struggling.

    I was taught to curl my toes inward and kick with the top of the foot. still not kicking with the toes though

    Depends upon how much flexibility you have. I can pull my toes up pretty good and contact with the ball of the foot. This inflicts more damage to the other guy (the ball of the foot can take a lot of weight impact wise), and no damage to the small bones in the top of your foot.

    Now during practice, sparring and kicking a bag, I have my students use the top of their foot. In an actual confrontation, use the ball.
