I wanted to ask our military group this question, What company does the US Goverment use to purchase the American Flags? I know they have the G-Spec but what material ect. is required?

They start by buying the raw materials and have an inside branch fabricate it themselves. They also have contracts out with direct flag manufactures he with the lowest price wins. And one thing for sure it's MADE IN AMERICA!!! Also that's why the only 2 ways to dispose of a flag when it has faded or torn is by
    1. Burnt
    2. Buried
And both have to be done by military personnel only.

Wrong. Military not required. No doubt some urban myth.

    US Flag Code:
    Section 8. k.

"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

I was going to call bullshit, but he might be referring to USGI flags. They may have specific disposal requirements.

Personally, when I have a worn or soiled flag that is ready for retirement, I'll give it to my friend who's son's scout troop has a ceremony once or twice a year, or to the American Legion.
