I had in wheel/tires thread but didn't seem to get much exposure so figured I'd post here.

As the title says, America's tires scratched my brand new wheels while installing new tires (2 of them to be exact). I even mentioned to them to take their time and not to rush as I've read on the forum of instances. They're pretty deep scratches you can feel and can't be polished out and large in length.

Initially they offered to have them repainted which I decline because they're brand new and don't want them refurbished. The other option was let me use them as is (which I'm doing now as they contact corporate) for now and order a new pair and have them swapped out (Either I order them or they order them) but no other compensation even though my time is being wasted waiting for replacements and having to come back to get them swapped out and/or have corporate get involved.

I know they're eventually going to get damaged but I want to be the one to damage them not the installer. Just wanted to see if any other people here have gone through the same thing and what you guts think is reasonable or most I should get in reimbursement.

    Appreciate your help.

I'd take their offer. They shouldn't have to pay you extra for screwing up but should pay for what they screwed up.

I am really in the position of, if they are willing to make it right, by repair or replacement, then that is what you should accept.

Its unfortunate and a mistake, but why do you feel you should be compensated further? Shit happens, let them work it out. There is nothing wrong with a refurbished wheel.

side note...are these painted from the factory or powdercoated? I wouldn't let anybody paint over the powder though.

I understand mistakes happen, to which as why I wasn't upset at the time and very calm and polite the whole time. I don't want refurbished because they're literally brand new and whose to say the work they do is good or they can even match it correctly or the time frame itll take to get done. They are powder coated matte black. The 4runner TRD Pro Wheels.

As far as compensation I was seeing others opinion. The initial install took 3 hours and the time having to come back swap out new tires is consuming. Time is money.

I understand the time. Then I would at least request a credit for the initial install. Perhaps just the mount and set fee.

The Dealer damaged 2 of my wheels before I even took delivery and gave me refurbished wheels before I ever left the showroom, you should probably let them repair those.

I would have them swapped with new ones they order for you. That seems fair, maybe see if they will discount the install overall. Its seems like they want to make things right.

Which is it? If they are offering to replace them that should be enough.

Time is money..... blah blah blah.

They are willing to fix the problem that they created. That is what's fair and that is all you deserve.

If your time was really so valuable then you would be paying someone to take your truck and deal with this while you were spending your valuable time doing money making things.

It's your hard earned money. Squeeze what you can... it's their fault for messing up. Just make it fair.

I told them to take their time as to not mess it up.... which they did anyhow.... but anyhow just seeing others opinions or possibility of someone having gone through the same thing and what Americas tires did for them.

They're offering to buy you new ones. How much is your time worth? Are you some big shot investment banker who is pulling in $500 per hour? If so, I'm jealous.

Depends the line of business. Someone doesn't need to make $500 per hour to make their time more valuable. I am in Real Estate, never know when you being unavailable will cost you $$$.

Still, I would allow them to make it right as per previous posts.

I would settle for 2 new wheels paid for by them.
They can keep damaged wheels to recover what losses their untrained, careless,or incompetent, installer caused. Also could be a company issue if tire machine is in diss repair or not up to doing valued wheels. For the last 6 months I have refused to do any tire work at my part time shop because tire machine is dangerous and will damage wheels even with all precautions taken. Don't settle for repaint that's bs they fucked up they should pony up. I've watched other installers gouge nice wheels badly because they have no spines. F THAT RESPECT for other property must b considered ,JMHO. No further compensation. Just job done right.

To me it shouldn't matter how much I make. Even if I made say $10 an hour and I have to spend 3-4 hrs to go back and swap out thats $30-40 dollars I could make to spend on more stuff for my truck. Haha this is getting more action that posting in the other threads. Thanks for your input guys.

I'd drive my third gen through the plate glass windows and light it on fire right in the middle of their sales floor.
