Ok, let me start by saying I have searched the forum and haven't seen anyone out there talking about my issue, but hopefully someone can help me out. I have run out of storage behind and under the rear seats. So, I was looking to add some storage for a tow strap, bungee's, etc... Thought the ammo box mod would be perfect for what I needed and do the trick. I wanted to mount them right up next to the cab like everyone else does. Problem is I have an Access Literider bed cover and anyone with one knows, there is a metal lip on the inside of the bed running the entire length of the bed. Like this picture :

Well, because of that overhang, I can't access the bed rail system or mount something flush with the side of the bed. So, possible options, but not sure if all are even possible.

    • Can you cut notches is that metal lip or would that screw up the support of the cover?

    • I could mount a hi lift jack mount and allow the box to be far enough from the rail that it wouldn't hit. But then the box sticks even further in the middle of the bed.

    • ?? Any suggestions on another possible solution?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I cut the side of the lip off of mine to make them fit under my cover.

Yeah, my bed cover is different than yours and sticks out about an inch the whole length of the bed like the picture in my first post... Hopefully someone has run into this, because the cover is fairly common.

Do you have any more pics of the bed rail? It's hard to see what you are working with. So you have zero access to the rails?

Use something as a spacer between the bed rail and the ammo box? It's hard to tell how far out the box would need to be from the bed rails to clear them.

Yeah, that was my thoughts with the hi lift jack mount... Use that as the spacer. I guess no one has really cut the bed cover rails. Attached are some better pictures.
