lol, give me time. I may get these on and say "OH DEAR GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE??"

Both my husband's chrome and my steelies though, easy as snot to clean, but I keep looking at them and going "...bleh."

I checked the 265/75R16 and it gave me an error message saying that tire didn't fit my prerunner 4x2 access cab. Maybe their database has an incorrect size stored for that vehicle option?

No, according to the database it doesn't fit since it's a 1" oversize tire.

They only recommend tires that match stock rolling diameter +/- some small tolerance.

Its not a stock size its a plus one size but it will fit. The computers database only run for stock sizes. Because there are too many combinations of wheel sizes/tire/vehicles to be efficient.

    That's a good point.

BTW, I still don't really believe this guy yet. Works at Discount Tire as an assistant manager, and says my 245/75R16 tires will fit these 8" wide rims (he's running 265-). What do you think? Isn't OEM 7" wide?

    Whew.

So, with the rim wider, but the tread the same, what can I expect the mileage to do? Stay the same or go down?

I have a mental note to get the lug nuts and while I was hoping for no shop fees, I'm ready for them if need-be.

What are different about the lug nuts? They seem to sit much deeper into the rim than mine, and I was hoping to buy black ones to replace his chrome, but will that not be possible if these are specialty?

The tread may be a fraction of an inch wider because you spread the width of the tire at the wheel. Millage shouldn't change, at least not noticeably. Personally I don't know if tires you have would do the the new wheels justice I feel those wheels need a larger all terrain such as the bfg's or the hankooks that are on em. but thats just me. either way it would look good i like black on the SWB

I completely agree. Everyone has to promise not to laugh as I exercise my penny-pinching ways. I don't know if you saw, but the owner was asking $200 PLUS my 500-mile tires for his 5,000-mile Hankooks. Brand new, there's only $50 difference between those two sets.

No, I wish. $200 was just to swap tires. Then $300 to swap rims. The final ticket came to $500 and a complete trade of assemblies, his for mine. Call me crazy, but when I did the math, I came out as a net cost of $1,000+ on my part and he made off like a bandit.

As it stands right now, I'm buying his rims tomorrow for $300 and keeping my entire assembly.

So, to break down the cost. I upgrade rims for $300, then sell my steelies for $100, netting a negative of $200. Then, when I've used up my entire tire, I upgrade for $450 more. For a total of $650 spent on a full upgrade, including my original assemblies.

To do it his way, I spend $500 on an upgrade, loose $465 in tires, loose $100 in rims, and get older tires which will have to be changed sooner, for a total of $1165+ to upgrade.

Looking funny never felt so good :p

the hankooks have a 50,000 warranty on them so you should be fine. I wish somebody would make that deal to me.

He is crazy as hell your giving him 300 for wheels with no trade but if you do trade your still paying him 300 plus your wheels. I feel you would be loosing out by doing a complete trade

I tried to make a complete-trade deal with the remainder in cash (ie, full trade in addition to $200 cash) but I think he's hurting for cash specifically so whatever grossed the most cash he went for.

He's selling the truck to his dad soon, which probably means something to this deal...

lol, he actually counter-offered this, but I pah-pahed it as being too much. You really think I should go for that? The Hankook's really did look rough for only 5k-miles.

Wait, looking through the texts, the actual offer was his rims and tires for $500 plus my tires. I keep my rims.

Tread is wearing quick. I only looked at the back because I wasn't considering the tires, but looks similar to if you did a few too many burn-outs. I would have pegged them for being a year+ old with the tread wear they have.

I honestly haven't seen off-road tires in awhile, but it didn't seem like a rough wear, just an even "I drive A LOT" wear

    New your tire $116 and stock wheels $92 = (116+92)x4 = $832
    New his tire $119 and wheels $109 = (119+109)x4 = $912
    $912-$832 = $80

Granted these are new prices with out looking for deals I just did a quick search and this is what I found.

Only found prices for p rated hankooks couldn't find LT which have higher price.

I was using similar sources. $500 additional just felt like I was being hung out to dry.

And yes, he's the assistant manager at Discount.
