If you're considering the tires, measure them with a tread depth gauge and compare against factory depth.

Ex: factory depth: 15/32 - worn out depth of 3/32 = 12/32 usable.

now: say 12/32 - so 3/32 is used up.

3/12 = 25% used up - so in this example the tires would be worth 75% of new.

This guy works at tire shop and is willing to mount and balance for free as part of any deal you work out? If not mount and balance fees add up fast so be sure to figure it into calculations.

Yeah, but takeoffs are always sold at a discount. I think I got 500 for mine? Or was it 400?

Ok so therefor she shouldnt need to pay any more with a trade of her wheel/tire for his. I feel that im right here with my math there is not a $500 difference even at brand new.

That's a solid way of factoring their worth. I think I'll ask them to measure the depth tomorrow and bring enough to make a reasonable offer. We can even measure mine and compare the difference in worth to be uber-correct.

Wouldn't that be a foot-in-mouth moment if the numbers came out against my $200-favor :anonymous:

LOL! His final offer was for $500 PLUS my TIRES, I would get his entire assembly OR for $300, I get just his rims and keep my entire assembly.

and HELLS YES, to the on sale Pro Comps, can't forget that variable!!

Should I, at this point, mention that my tires were given to me from the dealer as a part of the buying agreement...which gives us two trains of thought 1.) Cheap bastard, trade those tires in and spend money like everyone else or 2.) FREE SHIT, WOO!!!!

Man, who doesn't need $200 these days :p That's one slider or half a bumper or a car payment....well, again, half of one :(

1st edit: Okay, okay, as a compromise for my reputation, if my tires look SO god-awful, that I can't even BARE to drive down the street without bursting into flames with shame, I'll go back and offer him the remainder for the tires. I think he'll be cool enough to do that. I can't image $200 one day is worth less than $200 the next day, in his book.

2nd edit: Or, just order a pair through my shop...get exactly what I want at 30% off...

I did not read all the posts. As a pawn shop owner a used wheel that is $114.00 new is only worth $50.00 max. wheels are a hard sell it's not like gold that can be scraped anytime for cash. Why would you buy a used set for $300 when you can get new ones for 400. Think of this he could have sold them to any resale or pawn shop but for the real market price. If you like them offer 200 go to 225, the longer he has them the less there worth. Just my 2, best of luck. Oh ya I like them like that look.

Wow I started reading the posts lot of BS swap this for that crap. What ever his wheels and tires were new dont pay more than half. Thats it no resale or pawn shop will even give him that. If you want tires I have a half warn set of BFG T'A KO's 265/75/16's $275.00 you pay shiping or any one in northern IL. want them. No plugs or patches.

Moment of truth in T-15....the shop is putting my tires on his rims now.

Thanks for the offer, Mr. Ed, but I think I'll hold off on getting new tires for a few months. I get a discount on tires from my shop, so I'll probably pick up a pair of new BFG T/A KO's from them this summer.
