Amp BedXtender HD MAX 74811-01A from a 2014 to a 2016 fit?'s

Ok my 2014 Tacoma crew cab met a deer on Route 80. Good news is we survived Tacoma sacrificed itself and now I have a new 2016 Tacoma TRD Crew cab. Took the Amp bedextender off the 2014 and Amp says that one "will not fit" on the 2016. I laid the old extender out in place and do not see how come they say this will not fit. Looks the same as on my old Tacoma. What gives. Would like to know prior to drilling the holes but it looks like a fit to me. Anyone know?

This is the OEM 2G one, not the AMP branded one (though AMP makes the Toyota one), but it worked without issue.

 

from what I understand the beds are the exact same on the 2nd gen and 3rd gen. so can't see why it wouldn't fit. other than the manufacturer hasn't tested it to fit and since they can't say it will with testing they play it safe and say it won't.
I've had numerous things say will not fit and fit no problem.

It will 100% fit, the only thing that has changed is the 3rd gen bed height. Also the bed extender should have some adjustment. For wider/narrower.

 

Installed tonight with the templates. A perfect fit.
