are you just super biased against JL or something and trying to take it out on me? haha. obviously the sub it self didnt blow the fuse you tard, but the fact that it needed more power from my amp on 8 guage wire is what fucked up the fuses. it wasnt installed improperly, it was meant for a small kicker because i wasnt expecting a JL yet. also, the headlights were dimmed from my sub and amp because it ran too much power from ground and battery with out a diffuser or whatever they are called im blanking out and dont care to look it up for this, but if he has an alpine type r sub, tell me right now the amps you would recommend for him........ Would an alpine 500 do the trick? a 750 depending on the size of the sub? what about a JL HD/XD 600 or slash 500? those wouldnt be the best amps you could just get straight up? or would a kenwood or kicker be able to supply the best sound for his subs? and actually, my gain wasnt turned up too loud at all wtf are you saying, straight out of the box the amp pushes that much, thats why its fucking labled as a 1000/1 amp hahaha. i had it tuned at the shop for hard hitting on the lows, and smooth and less for the highs so i could actually USE my subs. there is no point in having a sub like the one i had and just use it for sound quality, which by the way was uncomprehensible, i wanted it to hit really hard to get the full affect of a sub so correct me if you dont agree with my decision to use a really good sub and amp to do the job

and i am proably this way because i went JL because they were the best subs i could get just at the store and the best amps i could get with it were JL, so thats probably carried my biased. i dont know the other brands like kenwood or sony as much for amps and subs because they arent rated as good and ive never been recommended one at all

No, actually I find JL makes a good product. I think that some gear is not worth *my* time, but that is why they make different lines.

I have owned several JL amps, and am actually selling one now, a XD700/5. I have also had several of the slash series - 300/2, 300/4, and 500/1 for one install.

Also ran gear from about 20 other companies trying to find what worked, and what I liked. I am not much of a brand whore - I get what works for my install, that meets my product requirement for the job at hand.

If you need a list, let me know.

Isnt this what I said earlier?

    Yeah, thought so.

    1. I already addressed the reason for dimming. See above.

    2. What is a diffuser, and what are you talking about. I think I addressed this earlier as well:
He has 2, not one, but I will throw out something simple. Get an amp that meets your listening needs, in the size that fits your install, with the features that you want in an amp.

Would a JL 1000/1 work? Nope, no room in his install for it.

How about a Alpine PDX - sure, if you dont get the noise issues the first generation had, seems like a reasonable option. If you dont need/want balls to the wall bass, something like a JL 750/1 seems like a good option. I doubt the majority of listeners would ever use that amp, with those subs, to their full capacity in a daily driver system.

for a single sub, yes - the "alpine 500 (WTF is that?) the (I assume you mean) JL HD 750/1 would be fine, as would the XD600/1. A 500/1 would be fine as well. A kenwood or Kicker of proper power would work just as well as any of these options, assuming it did not introduce any unwanted noise, and provided the power needed for the desired volume.

No one has questioned if a JL 1000/1 would produce rated power. You did not use anywhere near rated power with daily listening, or you were doing it wrong. ;)

Not sure what this line of questions/comments are about, but feel free to keep telling me what an amp is rated for.

Cool story bro. Of course, you are talking about one of the highest rated sound quality subs, due to the motor design, and high build quality. A great sub, with low distortion but a bloated low end in a car.

I am glad you shop tuned it for you to "hit with", and again, if you are happy with your setup, I think I addressed this as well.
    Yup, covered that too...

I never said that I didnt agree with your decisions based on brand, or reasons for choosing the setup you did. I said you were an idiot because you think that you need to match gear for it to work best. I covered that earlier, and in this post too. See here:
See, if you started with this, none of this would need to be discussed. Still does not mean gear needs to be matched, but this is a reasonable post.

If he has 2 subs wired into a 2 Ohm load... he cant run them into a 4 Ohm load. So 2 4 Ohm speakers into a 2 Ohm load... how you gonna run em at a 4 Ohm load... its either 2 or 8... not 4. Is that more clear?
