amp help

    nothing as of yet
    looking to purchase amp to install front stage only. have a kenwood dmx809s, hertz x690 (6x9) in doors and ds18 tweeters. no subs as of yet. future upgrades are pioneer 6.5 4 way in access cab doors. not hooked to amp. do i need amp, only reason why i bought kenwood was android auto for my s24 ultra. thank you for your time.

    Well, to work with what you’ve got, we’ll need some answers.

    First, how’s the treble in your truck? I ask because the Hertz speakers have tweeters, which are down in the doors, and the DS18 tweets in the dash. Is it “peel your face” treble when loud? Some people like it that way, personally it’s not for me.

    Second, are you wanting to go “active” at all? That headunit can do it, so what’s the plan? Active means an amp channel for each speaker, instead of a crossover controlling the signal.

    You never "need" an amp, it's really only if you want more power to the speakers to increase the sound. Install the equipment, if you like it without the amp, keep it without. If you want more, get the amp. I don't generally amp my rears because I don't hear them as much as the front stage.
