I started installing my amp wiring (no amp yet) today and got the line out converters installed, power cable routed and stereo hooked back up. Got dark so I buttoned some things back up and thought I would see if I at least had power to the stereo and nothing. Is this because it isn't getting 12v until the amp gets hooked up? I used a Meopta or Metro or whatever they call the connecters so you don't have to splice the factory wiring. They came with two male and two female ends which I thought was for diff model years (females) but I lost the directions to double check. Any way I wired the male connectors to my line outs and plugged them into the back of stereo leaving the two factory connectors (for speakers) off. Hope this makes since, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to connect the wires (red/orange/yellow/black) from the two large metra connectors together and plug the female into the factory connector, male into the HU. Those are the power and gnd wires that the HU needs.

That makes since. Also I had a blue connector left over with the two factory speaker connectors and an unused port about the same size but won't fit. Is this for a JBL or GPS option maybe? I think I reed on Taco tunes they use blue wire to trigger the amp to come on with radio, not sure about that but basically I used all the speaker wires and wired the two brown from LOC together ( instructions said only run browns to ground if amp won't power).
Where do I tap into the factory speaker wires on the amp out side, or do I need to run all new to each?
If you can think of anything else I need to splice or run please let me know, you have been a great help. Happy Easter

It's not clear to me what mean by the extra connector and not fitting. If you want to use the existing speaker wire then you would need to run a cable from the amp back to the HU and tap into the speaker wires on the female metra connectors. Or you can run new speaker wire from the amp to the speakers. Not sure what you're using for cabling between your HU and amp but you can tap into the two red wires on the large metra connectors and run that wire to your amp remote turn on.

It's usually a good idea to plan the wiring out before you start the install :).

The other connector is the only blue connector that is bundled with the two factory connectors that the Metra's replace ( if that makes since). Does the Metra female 4-wire i.e. two green and two purple get used? My amp came with a roll of blue wire I am assuming this is to tap into the reds your referring too. I thought I had it planned out correct from the connector diagram in another sticky thread but there isn't much info on which wires get spliced, looked on Taco tunes and they skipped this on there install video's. I get ADHD when it comes to electrical wiring but the only way to learn is jump in. I love how well designed Toyota interior trim panels are made, every American vehicle you have to replace all the plastic clips etc.

I have a 2016 so maybe there are some slight differences. There should only be two factory connectors that are removed from the HU, the two metra male connectors that you plug into the HU should be identical to these two factory connectors.

The small metra female connector is needed for the 2016, not sure about the 2015. There is a dimmer wire that needs to be connected, see garyinok's thread in the audio section for details, not sure if this is needed for the 2015. If you intend to use the factory speaker wire then you will also be using the green and purple wires, those are for the rear door speakers.

I think wires should match up except for a blue wire and a orange/black wire. The blue wire is used to single the amps power and the orange/black I just tied in with the blacks. I ran leads from the speaker wires off the male harnesses to the LOC. And from the amp back to the speaker wires on the female harnesses.
