I was talking to a guy I work with about them recently he had them and said the same thing. They do not survive our climate.

If taken care of they are fine!

They came on the F150 Platinum we had and my wife is from Saskatchewan, she had it there for 2 years before moving out here, never had issues with them. Keep them clean, every now and again they'd get noisy hinges but you just clean them then spraythem with a lube and they'd be like new.

Her extended family is still in Sask and they all have Fords and these steps, they haven't had problems with them. But they do come stock on the trucks so the dealer will take care of them!

I wonder if they are even the amp research ones. Might be something else.

I finally ordered the power step and installed it. It is awsome. Really a nice height to step on to get in. It works really solid. Glad to have bought it.

Post pics! I'd really like to see the gap between top of step and bottom of truck and at what angle they retract and how it looks sitting on the body when retracted.

Sorry I'm not getting really cool rock sliders so I can look like I'm a rock crawler in my 40k truck that I obsess over and durdakindurjurbs but I need a step. 10% of people with a lifted truck need a sliderppp 10% of people with a liftdurrr truck don't need a step. Dur truck sliderps on the rock derrrr. I'm so tough I have sliduurrrr on da truck durrrr. Durrr I bought a truck I'm over my head in and durrr upside duurrrrnnn in durrr but steps are durrrr if they don't durrrr the Durrr. Let me say this when I'm on the King of hammer turrr I need slidurrrr Mkay durr. Sliduurrrr stop durr rock from durrr the body of the durrrr and I'm tough got tattoos tough durrrr.

Since you've done it already. Mind helping me out? My company orders for 05'-15' and I'm installing on a 17' I know they make them for this model now but I'm just asking around to see who responds first. I just need to know which wires to connect to

I have these on my Taco as well. Love them. You can download the instructions to name the correct wiring look for 75162_PS_TOYOTA_TACOMA_2016 on their site. Not sure the '15 model has identical brackets or not.

EDIT: Cab trigger wires is on page 8
"Driver's side: Locate door ajar signal wires on driver side. Front Solid Yellow, Rear: Solid Red or Solid Pink. On access cab models tape off extra wire not used.
Passenger side: Locate door ajar wires on passenger side: Front Solid Green, Rear: Solid Purple Note: Three green wires are located in the loom. look for the lighter shaded wire. On access cab models tape off extra wire not used."

1st mod parts ordered, wife was all in on these steps. I think I ordered them Sunday after buying the truck on Sat. 3rd mod installed only due to needing better drill bits. All 3 mods were done within 2 weeks of purchasing the Taco.

The Opt7 light bar took 15 minutes, including cutting 1.5-ish inch fastener strip down to the correct size. Tonneau took more time to un-box than install.

I did not have a decent bit for the frame drilling required. So about a half hour wasted to run to Home depot and back. Completed install of all 3 including store runs in 3-ish hours as I recall. Probably half that time was installing the driver's side. The lines and tightening the front frame bracket inside the frame made very slow work.

    Good luck!!
