Amp stuck in protection mode

    A while back I got my hands on DHD power cruiser amp. A couple of days ago it went into protection mode, this happened once or twice before due to me pushing it a little too hard but a quick fix (turned my truck off then on), now it's just stuck in protection mode. I checked all the fuses and none are blown. The subwoofers that I have it wired to are 4 ohm svc's in which I wired them to 8 ohms (the amp is 4 ohm stable x 1). Anything else I can do besides buy a new amp and throw this one in the trash?

    If it's out of warranty, might as well open it up and see if you can identify anything that looks burnt.

    Sounds like the woofers may be blown, you can check resistance wit a meter if it reads 3.6 - 4 ohms your ok, if it's less that could be causing the problem. If that's not it then aside from putting it in a place where it makes it overheat it's a bad amp. A stereo shop will test your amp for like 20 bucks

    opened it but can't really tell what is burned out. doesn't look like anything is though (that I can tell). I unplugged the speakers and it's still in protection mode.

    The subwoofers are Hifonics Zeus 10" that are 350w ea. The amp goes up to 540w bridged (found some specs to it the other night). Currently I have 8g wires to it, but looks like it will allow for 4g. should I up the wiring to see if that will help or has nothing to do with the wiring? The 8g worked fine, but I am thinking that I really should have put in 4g instead. This is the only amp I have installed into my truck (it needs only 60a in which I have a 100a main inline fuse from the truck battery to the amp).
    No stereo place near me unfortunately :(

    well finally tested the subs, they work perfectly. the amp still goes into protection mode even when I swapped out for 4g wiring. Going to have to roll out to some mom and pop stereo spots for quotes :( I really did push the hell out of the amp, have to keep that in mind before I do that again.
