    What you read is BS

I've had various Amsoil motor oils in my truck for over 200'000kms of it's life. I've settled on 0w/5w-30 for personal reasons.

Whether or not it's worthwhile for you is a different question. Locally to me in Canada, off the shelf oil is between 71$-85$ for the 6 litres of oil needed to change mine since I usually miss the sales. I just get a case of Amsoil and it's shipped to my door for free for maybe 4$ more per oil change.

I drive alot and maintain all my families vehicle so i've been a preferred customer for free for the last 4 years. Plus other products they sell are flat out cheaper than Canadian tire or Walmart . Your math may vary

Since the OP sounds concerned about additives in the oil. He may just want to go down to Wally-world aka Walmart and pick up a jug of Mobil 1. It's dirt cheap, a 5qt. jug is now going for just $24.97. It does not have the additives that Amsoil, Redline, and other fancy oils have. Nothing wrong with Mobil 1 at all, in fact Mobil makes the motor oils for Toyota. A fact Mobil 1 is the factory fill oil for Mercedes AMG and Porsche. Just sayin.

@taco11117 What this person wrote. You still need another 2 quarts of 0w-20 to fill up your 3.5 V6, and no need Amsoil. You better off go WalMart for Mobile 1. Change engine oil, and filter every 3 to 5,000 miles.

Price for the Mobil 1 0W20 is for 5 quarts at Walmart ( one 5 quart jug). He only needs just needs 1 more quart for the oil change. Please see link below.

A question, who makes the oil for Kirkland/Costco? I doubt Kirkland has their own oil refinery to make their own oil. Toyota's brand oil is made by Mobil, BMW's brand is made by Castrol etc.

If your engine is not burning oil, then it would have no effect on emissions. It is not recommended for Rotary engines because those do inject oil into the combustion area to lubricate the apex seals. ALL pure synthetic oils fail there because they all resist burning, thus incomplete combustion, thus poor emissions and possible coking.

Amsoil FAR EXCEEDS API specifications. They always have. In fact, very often their current oil formula will exceed the API renewed specs before the API even revises them. (i.e. Ahead of the game.) Because of this, Amsoil quit wasting money on paying API for their stamp as it was a moot point. But ALL of their documentation is available to the public for you to see it.

Same as the charts Amsoil prints comparing identified (named) brands. They put it all right out there, published, nothing hidden.
Pick a name brand and look for how it compares to Amsoil. I'll bet that other brand will not take first place. Can you tell the difference? Prolly not. But the bottom line is - there is no denying that Amsoil is a better product, period. It has been proven too many times to argue it. (Apples to apples, of course.)

Take note that they don't make a lube for every application. When they do, it's quality in the pure sense of that word. They back it up with a warranty. Do any other companies? (I haven't looked.)

Regardless of what oil you decide to use, saying AMSoil is astronomically more expensive is not quite true. Their OE 0W-20 is $111.10 for 4 gallons or 6.63/qt shipped to your door in 1-2 business days after a $5 off per $100 spent. Mobil 1 at Walmart is $24.97 for 5 quarts or 4.99/qt and you have to pick it up and wait in line at checkout. That's a delta of 11.82 per oil change. I buy filters at my dealer for $3.99 ea and they throw in a free felt washer per filter purchased. To me, spending almost $12 a year to avoid Walmart and having the convenience of having oil delivered to my house is worth my time. Others may disagree but spending less than $40 per oil change for quality oil delivered to my door is worth it to me.

Kirkland oil is made by Warren. Get it on sale like this and bam, it’s $3.50 a quart delivered to the door.

Add in the cost of a membership and it is now $7/qt if all you get is oil. This is a far fetch but for us that don't have a store within 100 miles, it doesn't make sense for everyone.

Has anyone recommended any oil brands and weights based exclusively on their own personal bias? That's the only true way to settle these posts and stop them once and for all.

OP you can switch brands every change and as long as you change your oil every 5-7k you will never have an issue. I use Amsoil because I get it shipped to my door for $7.49 a qt. and it is a superior product with a lot of documentation to prove it. I run Amsoil in everything.

    Toyota filters
    Toyota oil.
Toyota engineers designed the filters per flow and filtration, and the oil per specific level of additives in the oil.
    Per their engines they designed...
It cost me roughly 55 bucks at the stealership getting 6 qts of oil and the filter for my Tacoma.
They even toss in a blue drain plug gasket.
    I change my oil every 5 k.

I'm just geussing on the Toyota engineered things........

A little story about Amsoil. 5 years or so ago my Silverado with a 5.3. Sitting at a stop light the oil pressure would drop to zero and the light would come on. Then it would rebound. I assumed it was the instrument cluster going bad a didn't give it much thought. It was hot that summer, triple digits and I was towing a lot and helping a friend move for a couple of months. This would happen intermittently. Time comes for an oil change and I remember I used an AC Delco filter because Napa was out of WIX. I see a bunch of metallic in the oil. I cut the filter open and find a lot more and that the element has collapsed. Upon further inspection the bypass valve in the filter was defective and it was in fact a bad filter and when my truck had been telling me it had no oil pressure the instrument panel was not lying. Frustrated I flushed it and completed the oil change. A few weeks later I get some internal engine noise. A couple months after that it stated idling rough. A month after that I took it to the shop where they scoped it and found that several lifters had failed and had eaten several lobes off the cam. All that metal running through the engine. Through the bearings yet it still had good power. Still got decent mileage and ran pretty well just had a rough idle and was starting to hiccup under load at times. It was not getting hot or anything. I was driving around with a blown motor, not many oils would allow that to happen. It is not Amsoils fault as the oil was not getting to where it should have been. But I was super impressed with the performance and so was the shop. They were like how in the hell did you drive this in here and we can still drive it around. I ended up buying a new motor but Amsoil is good shit.
None of the big brands manufacturer oil. They all pay one of 5 refineries to make it to their spec. Amsoil manufactures their own oil and they do not make it for anyone else.

    So fugging true...

Lotta emotional investment alot of people have standing on the soap box proclaiming the word in their mind.

Last time I checked it boils down to personal preference.
I don't think anyone is making direct deposits into others banking accounts around here.

    So....
    With that being said.
Many think highly of themselves and many want others to think highly of them for group acceptance.

I think the only debate here is spending 2x the cost of oil for something that exceeds oem spec. Sure amsoil may be “better” than anything you can buy out there, but is it worth the extra cost, and can anyone buy it for $7.50 per quart?
