If you change your oil in regular intervals, with oil filter, engine oil brand hardly matters.

I use Costco's brand for the value. Been running it for over a year. Oil looks the same as top name brand when I drain it.

    Working on it ...
I remember years ago I used to work in a service center. We towed an older woman’s car in and we broke it down. It needed a valve job which we did. Turns out she bought the car new and never ever changed the oil - just had the guys pumping gas add a quart as it needed it.

The car had 75,000 miles on it!

Kirkland for the win. Do you're own research and you'll see that its good stuff.

I used to work in a locomotive shop. The oil in those engines was never changed. Filters every six months and oil added as needed. Oil analysis was done every six months, mostly to catch something like a main bearing going bad. These engines typically go well over a million rail miles and 15 years before a rebuild. Mobil1 was the oil provider.

Apples and oranges, but quality filter changes and maintaining proper oil level will go a LONG way.

Diesels tend to do that. Friend of mine had a powerstroke F-350. They hold lots of motor oil which was fairly costly to do oil changes which he hardly ever did, just adding more when it was down, and replacing the filter once a year. That truck had a zillion miles, and was still running fine last I knew.
