I got my sockets over the week and just tested fit. 15/16 does fit a bit more snug on the rear diff than 24mm as @Pablo8 indicated.

Looks like front skid removal is mandatory.

I think I located the hex plugs for front diff fill and drain, question on that, should I have bought 2 replacements, one for each, or is one different than the other? I only bought one of them because I’m a noob.

I think I’ll have a better look at the MT fluid once I remove the skid. I’m guessing it’s the black pan at the bottom of the transmission? Haven’t located a fill plug for it yet. Might be obscured by the skid.

Last, I’ll need to google to figure out what a transfer case is, hah!

You only need that new plug for the bottom (drain) plug on the FRONT diffy.

TC should be very back of tranny

2nd guess. I suppose I ought to RTFM as the fill plug instructs :). I’m guessing something about crush washers being one time use maybe?

Looks like a wolverine gnawed on your MT fill plug. I have in my past reused crush washers, but why chance it, you can get 2-3 sets for cheap

oh yeah, I have 2 sets in my cart, is it one set per plug or one set covers both diffs and transmission? But then TC needs one too?

I think it’s just some surface rust. I guess maybe I should confirm that all fill plugs can be removed.

One set covers the whole MT TC shebang with front and rear diff..............with an extra or shortage, hence buying a couple sets!

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
Why recommend the OE vs signature series for us? Wouldn't the signature series be higher quality? Or am I missing something.

I assume most folks are not extending oil change intervals, and while you are very much correct Sig series is better, there is not going to be much difference doing the recommended - OCI Under 10K miles, so save the $.

don't want to assume but you are asking about a 3rd gen right? I had the same questions and looks like it was answered.

@Pablo8 Do you have a recommendation for what automatic transmission fluid to use. This is the first time doing a transmission flush and was about to go with Genuine Toyota WS ATF but then I saw this thread.

    Boosted Money Pit....
What's the difference between Signature and OE variants? Also was considering the XL for a boosted reason. Any experience in that? If I can add any protection with the S/C I am game. Used to pick up from the local Amsoil before I did gear swap and have been on Lucas gear oil, Toyota transfer and Mobil 1 engine. Need to do a drain/fill on the trans and considering going back to Amsoil. Overall the cost is not too much more than Mobil1 (mainly get that due to I can always get a deal at Costco)
