I was surprised how well my OEM ones held up too, before I replaced them with the 5100s. They're pretty tough for what they are. But yeah, for the high speed desert stuff you definitely want a good coilover setup. I bet those Kings you're riding on now are like floating on clouds compared to the 5100s lol.

It's all just . Lol. Nothing like riding on crap to appreciate when you get the good stuff tho.

    Long story short.
Billy's good for light to moderate usage.

Kings are where it's at. When it comes to $500 dollar plus coilovers.... Pick your color. King, Icon, Fox, Camburg, Racerunner... "Nearly" the same sh#&.

I'm likely going to go with Kings when the time comes, just because I feel like I've read about less issues with them...compared to Icons anyway (not trying to start a debate with Icon lovers here, I'm sure they're great shocks too). Was also eyeballing the Toytec Boss kit but Kings for first gens can be had for a pretty decent price, so I'll probably go that route.

$67 bucks a pop for the 4600 or "HD" OEM rear shocks.

5100 require 1 inch lift in the rear and are $120 a pop.

If you wheel a lot I say invest in something better all together.

If your casual, just go with the 4600s. Half the price for what I experienced as not drastically different than the Billy 5100s.

    Just my 2 c.
    Hope that helps

Thanks alot. Will be getting the 4600s for the rear and 5100s up front on the middle setting. I'm sure it will ride much better, anything has to be better than the ride I have now.

Done! Case closed. You'll be happy. Plus you'll save 100 bucks and any headache about whether they fit or not.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    $120 a pop as in a piece?

I ran the same setup for years on my 03 5100's upfront and 4600 in the rear. And they rode very good until I went to a AAL and OME coils. Eventually I went to 5100's in the rear based on the advice that 4600s are the same as OEM (WHICH IS FALSE) and I couldn't tell any bit of a difference. Now granted I don't Offroad but I did a lot of fast heavy city driving at the time.

There are many threads on this topic. In short:

OEM Bilsteins (thinner, not true 4600's)
4600 Bilsteins (thicker for stock trucks)
5100 Bilsteins (thicker for lifted trucks)

This is true, they are too long and will bottom out before hitting the stop. I know from experience.

Seems odd that DSM would tell you that 5100's won't work for stock height. That's exactly where I bought mine (for my stock height 2004 DC), although I did get longer shackles soon after).
