My 2008 2.7L Base Access is in for oil, manual says 0W20 for best results, dealer says 0W20 wasn't available till 2010 to them.

So... not that I'm losing sleep, just bought it, but a little confused. 0W20 or another viscosity full synthetic?

Can't quite figure where, or what part of this vast country you live. Must be very hot. Drink plenty of liquids and go to a mall. A much cooler air is what you need.

And there you have it. Put 0w20 in. It's just weird to have the dealer, and yeah, Toyota dealer, be so befuddled regarding the manual, even to suggest I had a replacement oil fill cap that said "5w20 0w20"

You'd be surprised how many dealers do not use what the manual calls for.

Many have 200 gallon takes that are filled with ???????? Could be any weight.

Regardless of what vehicle is being serviced, they get ????????.

Not saying this is the end of the world, just pointing out that dealers are like any business. They try to save $$$ any way they can.

Sure am glad I service all of my vehicles. The only way you will ever know for sure you got what the book calls for.

for warranty purposes dealers have to stock what Toyota recommends, which is and has been for several year Mobil Oil products.

Most NEW Toyotas are spec'd to use 0W20 synth ( Mobil 1 ), the dealer has to stock it, but more than likely have bulk 5W20 Mobil 1 and 5W30 dino " On the hose" if they have such a system in the shop. 5W20 is an option in the manual and more readily available most places in bulk. The only cause for deviation from this would be the lack of a reasonably local Mobil Oil products dealer in the area.

While dealerships may leave a lot to be desired as far as actual services ( or lack there of )provided, there are several things they HAVE to maintain to retain dealer status, and Corporate does check this stuff.
