I'm considering buying a 2020 Tacoma that has anchors on the bed rails. The anchors aren't like my old Tacoma, which was stolen. See attached photos.

I looked around on the forum, but didn't find references to those specific dowel-like anchors.

Can you guys let me know if you're familiar with them? Thanks, folks.

Was that used for a Tonnue (sp?) type bed cover. Those are not tie downs like the ones I have which are movable along the rail.

Yeah, I also had the sliding rail type for my tonneau cover which was a hard bed cover. These are strange, fixed placement anchors. ~Thanks

Looks to me like someone removed the oem rails.
You probably need to replace the oem bed rails and oem are good and you can then use oem anchors.
Maybe used on a web site.

I don't know, man. The OEM rails seem to be right there. You can even see the plug at the end. Unless I don't know what I'm talking about. I am also a little stoned.

    Edit: it's probably both.

Edit edit: I think they're for the OEM tonneau cover. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...require-cutting-holes-in-bed-rail-cap.412198/

    Ya you're right I think.
    Something isn't 100%.
My tonneau is covered in snow or I'd send you a pic of mine.
Hopefully someone else will jump in.

I think the oem rails are there. The other pin style are from something else. I have a solid trifold that would work with the existing oem rail. The other. I have no idea but as a note would be interested in what the heck they are used for.

everything highlighted is for the OEM tonneau cover, which was a port-installed option.

you can try to check the for-sale section to see if anyone is selling one to make use of it, otherwise, there's a few threads about removing them, and then also replacing the bed rail caps so the openings no longer exist.
