I think it was Einstein that theorized time was influenced by gravity. Pretty weird stuff.

I also believe we did not come up with "micro" chips on our own......not from where we were in the 80s. Look what u can do with a cell phone.
And u know damn well, we were/are/always will be getting things that are scientifically outdated because the military has no need for these "slow" technologies that we are thinking are "new and amazing". Darpa or whoever will make sure the mil is far out of our reach THANKFULLY.

Look how long the interweb, and GPS was around before we were able to use it, and how long we were limited to 56K and only rough GPS coordinates.

The govt had better tech, but must remain superior to the public for safety.

Off topic, yes to a degree.....bottom line, we are not alone and its arrogance/ignorance to think we are such a superior species. Look at how foolish we rlly are. All we do is kill kill kill......then try and live forever, so we develope a need for more "things" to keep us alive and more food, materials to keep us satiated.....the whole time killing more resources......again, our greed kills......its no wonder that other beings approach us stealthily, all we would do is try and enslave them, and disect them unless they are strong enough to resist us.

    Why not?

Nobody built the space shuttle with stone-age tools.
You use the tools of today to design the tools of tomorrow.
    Same goes for computing.

When you throw away a singing birthday card, you are throwing away more computing power than existed on the planet in 1950.

But the tools of 1950 were used to design the tools of 1951, etc....

I tried to run a CAD program on an 8mhz 8088 computer. It took nearly an hour to draw a circle... this was in 1989.
But that processor was used to develop the 80186. The 80186 was used to develop the 80286. The 80286 was used to develop the 80386. The 80386 was used to develop the 80486. The 80486 was used to develop the Pentium.

Every advance in technology also advances our ability to develop new technologies.

The "microprocessor" did not magically appear out of thin air.
It was developed using CPUs that were comprised of thousands of transistors that were programmed using 2x2ft panels that were programmed with wire jumpers.

Transistors were developed using processors that were comprised of a room full of vacuum tubes the size of your school's gym.

And from where we were in the 80s?
In the 80s, we already had the technology to get affordable computers into every home. I built my first computer in 1987, and I was 2 years behind the "geeks".
The Commodore Vic-20 was available in 1982. the TRS-80 Model-1 was available prior to 1980.

My grandpa used to be a computer programmer, he held up a floppy disc and said that it could hold more info than a tray in the huge refrigerator sized computers he used to work with.

now it is amazing that you can place thousands of times that storage on your pinky nail.

But there was still a progression.
    Nothing magic happened overnight.
Processors went from 4.77Mhz to 7.14Mhz, to 12Mhz, to 25Mhz, to 40Mhz, to 66Mhz, to 100Mhz... it took from 1990 to 2000 to get to 1,000 Mhz.

"Floppy disks" were 128k single sided 8", then 128k single sided 5.25, then 256k double sided. Then the 3.5" disk came out at 720k, and it was bumped to 1.44meg... it stopped there.
Now, consider that the 128k floppy disk held 128k of information. The refrigerator sized computers were programmed using wire jumpers on 2ft x 2ft panels. Each panel carried only 4 BITS... or one byte. ONE BYTE, on a 2x2 panel.
Same with hard drives. I've paid roughly $200 for nearly every hard drive I've ever owned. It's just now that large drives are dropping below that price point.
    1987, 20 Meg and 40 Meg.
    1989, 80 Meg.
1990s, 200 Meg IDE, 400 Meg, 800 Meg, then moved into the gigabyte range.

Ya... in 1990, if someone had told me that in 2013, I'd be carrying 32 gig on my keyring, I'd have asked two questions:
WTF would I EVER need 32gb for
WTF are you smoking and can I have some because that's GOOD shit!

Everything has been progressive, but it's hard to see looking back.
To think that in the 1980s, Bill Gates didn't believe that we would ever need more than 640k of RAM....

But aliens had nothing to do with it.

Good Lord Rich, you are bringing back some serious old-school memories. I remember my old TI99-4 that me and my dad built together. (He used to work for TI) I also remember my first 286 SX-16 with something like 512k ram that we upgraded to 1mb later. I also remember the old cases that had the hand-switchable CPU speed indicators on the front. It was funny when we finally built our first 100mhz computer because at the time there were only 2 segments since nobody expected to see anything as fast as a 100mhz processor, so we made the leds into a "00" and a highlighter to mark a "1" on the case itself in front. lol.

Alot of the things in the video make good points, other things not so much. Definitely wouldnt call it a debunk of the ancient astronaut theory. But maybe discrediting some of their evidence. to a point.

1989 was a fun year, we had a 1gb drive in our sonar shack for certain stuff, unheard of then.
Meanwhile in the equipment space, 2 mainframes circa 1974 or so, ran our sonar system. Then on one sub I was on temporarily, we had a GPS test rack, 2/3rd of the satellites were up iirc, not all.
As far as tech development goes, a lot is designed for the military first, but the civilian market for more faster and flashier tech has also driven the development w/o military dollars.

Aliens... why would we be the only ones in space, then again if there were aliens, why would they fly here and not overtly set up full contact. Until then, no real proof of them exists imo.
