I have a 2021, bought just about 3 years ago and have had no issues with mine. I like the AG color, which I think they have retired for now.

Probably should stay away from the 2018s. They wear out oil, brakes, tires. chip in the windshield... This list goes on. It'll just nickel and dime you to death. Hopefully they get it right on the 21-23s.

‘18- ‘23’s are outstanding, and even ‘16-‘17’s with prior teething issues that were properly corrected can be extremely durable. Toyota has been refining & updating the same basic truck for a couple decades now, so a current Taco (or 4R) is as trustworthy as it gets, for a while at least.

These forums are frequent echo chambers for statistically fractional groups who do share similar, legitimate issues. They seek advice or share frustration. It’s also a complaint box for many who bought the wrong truck, or abuse their Tacomas. And the overwhelming majority of us who have few issues are usually silent spectators, entertained by the spicier rants. Point is, a grain of salt here goes a long way.

Yes there are always exceptions, but remember what you can’t select is the previous owner…that’s probably more relevant, so buyer beware there.

An example (2023 tacoma) it’s just being unlucky regardless of year model is still true . https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2023-tacoma-with-pinhole-leak-in-head.817161/
