Did the replaced bumper come painted black on the back side or is it bare metal?

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
You could just bang on it more and go for the dimpled look. ;)

If you plan on painting afterwards, pull the bumper, get it close with a hammer then fill with bondo and paint. If you're not planning on painting, best to let someone with experience do it. Not all dents can be taken out, especially when it comes to a heavier metal bumper (vs. sheet metal).

Not sure, I'll have to check it..It looked dark on the back, but I think it was just brake dust and grime..

Let us know how it turns out! I've never used the Dulpi-Color Bed Liner before.

I'm having a hard time getting it on in thin coats...it seems to be dripping alot. I'm wondering if it would have turned out better without a primer coat....Do you have any photos of the finished product?

It is going to make a huge mess. I was about 14-15" away from my front bumper when I sprayed it. I used 3 coats total.

Remember each coat won't fully cover. It will look speckled. If you try to make each coat fully cover, it will drip. Just put like 10 super quick thin coats on, it will turn out much better and stronger.

    Good luck!

Thanks for posting, looks good, mine still looks pretty glossy, but it's only been about an hour..hopefully in the next hour it will dry out and get a flatter look, and I can fill in from there..

    Thanks!

Noted, thanks. It's a little too late for that, but hopefully once this base coat dries I can apply that technique and get the desired outcome.

Finished primer coat, really happy with how that turned out.

Bedliner dripped down the side, not happy with that...I'm thinking about getting the roll on stuff, this spray is driving me crazy.

I've been wanting to do this for a while. How hard is it to remove the bumper and take off all of the plastic pieces?

It's not hard, I did it alone, but it would be nice to have had a hand getting the bumper off. The plastic pieces all just pop off, but be careful on the corner pieces, they can break easy. I would pull the pumper off first, then the plastic. (Except the center plastic piece needs to come off to disconnect the hitch from the bumper).
