    Just messing hometown.

For me, the only place the 4.0 shined crazy was putting it in 4LO/Locker no ATRAC OR DHA, and it would crawl down like a robot without ever touching the brakes.

The 4.0 shines because they don't blow up as often as the 3.5

It’s weird cause the 3.5 is unstoppable in a Camry or Avalon, but they really don’t seem happy in a heavier lifted vehicle.

The fucked up something when they engineered it to work in the 3rd gen.

People on this forum will mock you for saying “truck engine” but the reality is that the 4.0 was engineered from the ground up to only be utilized in body on frame platforms and the 3.5 wasn’t. The 3.5 goes in unibody grocery getters.

Nice move!! I have owned tacomas first then switched to 4runner Pro. 2 of them. Now have my 21 tundra Pro. After having all three. If I would decide to downsize I would go back to a 4runner. The Tacoma does not suit me if I made the move. All depends on your needs.

My nephew picked up a 2022 4R TRD OR, and when I got a peek inside…the look of the transfer case shifter alongside the transmission shifter looked absolutely amazing  It screamed craftsmanship.

Why did Toyota’s bastard child get the knob…

Jumped ship a few months ago. No ragrets. Just know tires MUST be road force balanced within spec or you're going to get the wobbles at 60mph.

No manual transmission in the 4Runner? That would be a deal breaker for me.

I’m lifted, on 33s and carry about 650# of additional weight. Have absolutely zero issues with power, plenty of torque below 3k RPMs.

Running premium SFOB tune on 94E0, truck drives amazing, while getting advertised MPGs if driving conservative.

Most 4R guys don't know how to drive a stick, so it works for them.
