My grandfather died from it when he was in his late 80's. I've never done anything to check. I should! I was always told that it was due to him being a capt. on a ship that landed on Hiroshima (USS Montelier after it was bombed. He was the Capt. when the Japanese surrendered (Capt. Gorry). His wife lived to 102.5 yrs old. No other family history but I suppose I should do the same... I'm 48.

Best of luck and we'll pray for the best!

Too late for that advice... he took it a couple of hours ago... By now, I'm sure he's "busy" :D

Hey Brett, lousy topic but good post. I'm 53 and haven't had this done yet. Good reminder for me. It's time.

PS I'm not going to post about it though.

Good luck with everything. I just took my dad in for one last month. I must say, it was one of the most comical experiences I have been through watching him come to. It seemed like every minute for at least 15 minutes he was ripping a 10 second long fart that could have possibly blasted him out of his bed. Then came the rediculous comments he was making about the over weight nurse, and then the doctor that he somehow new on a personal basis and was apparently married 5 times... It was a little embarresing to be associated with him at the time, but all good humor in the end.
