Literally the one of the worst vehicles to buy since they are in the top 3 of highest depreciating vehicles.

I’m not a Land Rover fan, but I can’t imagine those who waited so long for LR to bring back Defender are happy with this thing.

I think Land Rover has by now forgotten how to build a trail-ready vehicle. For something that is supposed to be a serious off-road vehicle, the wheels and tires alone don’t look very trail-worthy.

I hope Ford does a better job with upcoming Bronco.

After my recent stint in a Jaguar F-Pace ( and LR Discovery loaner that wouldn’t go into reverse), I’d rather take the 3 tacos you can buy with the money. JLR quality control is total garbage. Their reputation regarding lack of reliability is well earned and hasn’t changed a bit over the years.

    • Short wheelbase 2-door SUV
    • An inch more ground clearance than a JL Rubicon with better breakover and much better departure
    • Can ford almost 3 feet of water
    • Diesel that gets 30MPG
    • Nearly 1T payload with 650lbs on the roof
It's nearly everything I want in an SUV (minus solid axles but I can deal in this day and age) but looking at Land Rover reliability lately, I was wrong to think it was a meme from the old days where you knew your Disco was modified if it wasn't leaking oil.

I get that this isn't really true to an original Defender but times change. They have to meet economy and safety standards and lest we forget, the Defender actually has an external roll cage because it destroys itself in a rollover.

The vehicles we love of old are dead and aren't coming back. IMO this thing will be insanely capable and is a best case scenario given what LR did to the Discovery.

The only off road vehicle's I've seen that actually come with half decent tires off the lot are the raptor and zr2 colarado. I don't see Toyota putting duratracs on the "pro"

They're building them for California elites like the Kardashians, tires will likely never get dirty, much less leave the pavement.

The purpose of this exercise was to see the ridiculous price, and the sheer number of options you have to choose from in their configurator.

Toyota packaging drives me a little nuts with their all or nothing packages, but I do appreciate the simplicity and low price.

We make fun of the Pro, and Pro owners, but in reality it’s a good package.

Can’t wait to see the 2020’s in the hands of Toyota enthusiasts soon.

#notmydefender. What a absolute botch job on LR's part. I believe JLR make some of the best looking SUV's on the road today & to come out with this!!! It looks like a knock-off version of the old crappy Freelander. IDK how you fix it unless completely scrape it. I give props to MB for not entirely screwing up the new G-Wagon as they kept a lot of the iconic design traits like how the doors sound when closing.

    2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
Fox 2.5 Suspension 2 in Lift
    Pros:
    8k+ lbs towing capacity
Bench seat option (take notes Toyota, this would be badass)
Onboard air and water system(Take notes again Toyota)
    locking rear diff
Potentially a diesel option coming to the states

    Cons:
Looks like an honda element had sex with a mini cooper clubman with a light spacer lift
air suspension will blow about 1k miles after warrranty expires
reliability is below everyone's bar standards
    no locking front diff
No solid axle at all = poor driving experience for high speed desert racing and rock crawling
aftermarket suspension will be significantly smaller due to air suspension setup
priced to a point that it ill rarely go off the pavement

Buying a new LR literally says,

Without decent reliability, you're basically throwing $70k down the drain. It's the same argument I make about any European car... they look so sleek and nice, and drive like a dream for 50k miles, then fall apart. They have such a short lifespan to enjoy them before they give you headaches.

Talking from experience? Weird how everyone I know with euro cars have no issues and high mileage, maybe they should go buy a lotto ticket, or euro cars are actually solid and people just like to bash them.

Buying a /new/ rover maybe. Picking up a 15 year old model for $1500 and mobbing the fuck out of it? Cheaper than these Taco mods

    LS1 swap with nitros.
2008 BMW K1200S with 7,500 miles. More oil leaks than you can imagine, and the fuel gauge is dead yet again. A problem so bad BMW covers them under warranty for 12 years. Mine goes back in for another repalcement in a few weeks as the last gauge they put in lasted a whopping 50 miles.

Bought a Tacoma because I couldn’t buy one of these here in the states... funny thing, Toyota sells it in my home country Venezuela but I am no longer there and can’t import a new one here...

Every time I meet a Land Rover owner on the trail, I hear the same story of the hydraulic suspension cr**pping out and leaving them stranded in the middle of nowhere. If they were lucky they could limp back 100+ miles at 10 MPH.

This Land Rover looks just as over-engineered and promises more of the same.
