Well, I can't get android auto to work. 2023 tacoma, trd off road. Shouldn't I see under apps android auto? I have like two apps, wifi and toyota connect. I went through my phone setup, looks like I can make calls and texts only. What am I doing wrong?

Also, no Bluetooth, has to be a cable?l to connect? I've tried 2 cables, no luck. The phone does charge though.

It has Bluetooth. To use anything auto you need to be connected by a usb cable. Are you? All of your connections should be under source. Take your time, reset the Bluetooth on your phone, forget device, refresh etc.

So you are saying I need a cable, but also saying I need Bluetooth which is not via the cable. Either way I have the cable in as I described, and everything enabled. I would think under apps I would see android auto on the dash. I don't.

sounds like user error, you can listen to music without connecting it via bluetooth. but for maps and other apps you need to connect your phone with a usb cable

I’m saying that you need a USB cable to use android auto or Apple CarPlay and the vehicle has wireless Bluetooth.. we’re here to help you.. you seem a little on edge. Have you tried refreshing the trucks radio?

Not on edge, just being clear. No, I have not refreshed it. I have never used it. I do have a manual transmission, I would hope that wouldn't matter.

Have done it. Device not recognized it tells me. I'm not able to use my newest cable since I can't find a usbc to usb adapter. I'm guessing it's my cables

zero issues. i also put a piece of velco and attached it upside down in the opening for the wireless charger if that makes sense. that way its out of the way, and if you need to remove it its not stuck there with double sided tape

i also have a manual transmission, so it should make no difference. could be the adapter youre using on the cable, so get just a cheap basic usbc to a cable. I dont remember exactly how i did it cause its been so long, but im pretty sure there was a setting in the stereo and or the phone to enable android auto. go to the settings on your phone, and in the search area (magnifying glass) type android auto, and see if there is any settings you can enable

you mean like one side of the velcro attached to the underside of the wireless charging hole "roof" and then the ma1 having the other velcro attached to it, right?

Just to rule out one variable, you tried connecting to the USB port in the dash, not in the armrest storage, correct? The one in storage is charging only.

not sure if you've got your answer yet, but a few things to try.

-reinstall android auto on your phone.
-go into android auto app on your phone and clear the cache.
-leave the usb cable plugged in and reset your phone. once you've done this get past the password protection screen and then leave phone on for a moment. once you've done this, reset your tacoma screen by pressing and holding the bottom left knob until it resets.

    this usually does the trick.

if it doesn't, try a new usb c cable, and the the above process again if this doesn't fix the issue.
